I am 65. I got a lap band at 55 but it recently slipped and caused me to develop a hiatal hernia. So I got it removed, the hernia fixed and a revision to a gastric bypass all in one surgery. Recovery was a bit harder than the lap band but I don't think it was that I'm 10 years older as much was how much more involved a bypass is than a lap band. You are never too told to try to improve your health, and the benefits far outweigh the risks, so go for it! And we are all here to help you get through it.

I turned 60 two months after having surgery. Six months before surgery, my primary care physician told me I was looking at a major cardiac event within the next ten years that I might not survive. That was the turning point that made me decide to have the surgery It was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I feel wonderful. My doctor says I've probably added 10-15 years to my life expectancy. I just wish I had done it 30 years earlier!

I had my surgery in July 2019 - I was 67. (68 now) You're never too old to get healthier! Don't let worries about your age be your barrier! Good Luck!!

That makes me feel better! I guess there are thoughts in some people that would feel why bother at that age? My mind is only 40 though 😉. I feel regardless of how long I have I would rather be as healthy as I can be, but I do worry that the risk involved may be higher.

    Daily Exercise Amount?

1 hour walking the dog at the very least 4 times a week (often before going to work). I do this more for my head than my body to be honest.

    Daily Exercise Amount?

I wish I had half the energy some of you guys have! I watch my two grandsons ages 3 and 1 five days a week. After that I enjoy long sits on the couch instead of long bike rides or hikes 🤣 You guys are doing great!

    Compliments

Anytime I hear complements helps boost someone's positivity it reminds me of: “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” Proverbs 16:34 💚Congratulations💚

    Dizziness in the shower?

Gotta wait for the labs. Could be Anemic or hypoglycemic or hypotension or... anything . My resting heart rate is between 40 and 50 ( beta blockers ) and that's after cutting the dose in half. At least I don't feel like I'm going to pass out anymore. Could you please follow up when you find out ? Be well

How's your iron/vitamin D intake? Protein macros? Hydration? Also, how rapidly you move. I have to be careful of that because I'm usually rushing too quickly, and this was ESPECIALLY true the first 12 months out of surgery Sent from my SM-J727R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
