2 more pounds to obese class 2

I’m so close to dropping into obese class 2 at 264. After that on to the next goal which would be obese class 1 and onwards. I kept my 3 & 4X shirts & worked out in them until last week when I went into XL & skipped 2X altogether. I’m frequently at the gym & now running 6mph on the treadmill. There’s still a long way to go but I feel pretty good so far. I track EVERYTHING on MyFitnessPal & it’s such a tremendous help. I also have an Instagram page with examples of plates I eat that’s a work in progress. You can check it out at, “ my_tiny_healthy_plate “. Hope all are doing well in this lifelong journey to happiness health!

    Gum

I chew gum with no issues. Personally I would be insulted if my surgeon banned gum because "it gets swallowed". I'm an adult, not a child, I'm sure I can handle not swallowing gum.

Don't worry, your body is just catching up. You usually lose inches when you don't lose weight. Weight fluctuates a lot. It will be fine!

I have a desk job with a desk that can change from sitting to standing and I returned to full days at 7 days post op and was just fine. I am 15 days post op now and feel amazing!

    Pain when swallowing

A month later... you might want to talk to your PCP or Surgical team... that's not normal.

Worried about surgery setting me back

Figure out your BMR here https://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmr-calculator (Your BMR is the amount of calories your body needs just to be alive, think in a coma, alive but not moving). And don't eat more than that per day and you should be fine. My current BMR is 2047, so barring any medication that causes weight gain etc, if I laid in bed all day and didn't consume 2047 calories, I'd be at a deficit and my body would be forced to use it's energy stores. Stay under your BMR if you can't exercise and you shouldn't have a problem with weight gain.

    Need suggestions

If you're missing "meals", try something savory. You can eat pretty much any soup out there if you strain out the chunks. (I'm assuming you're on full liquids because of the milk.) After the soup is heated, you can stir in some unflavored protein powder to increase the protein. Soup counts toward your fluid goal. There are a lot of good choices now in the grocery store. It doesn't need to be "chicken & stars"! But don't add the protein powder before you heat the soup! It can get all clumpy. UGH! I couldn't handle the "sweet" overload. Good luck!

    High blood sugar .. still

I wouldn’t throw in the towel just yet, your system needs to adjust, 10 days is not very long.

That's perfectly fine to drink the shake in 30 minutes. The swelling in your stomach has gone down and allows the liquid to pass right through. However, you now have absolutely no excuse not to get your water in every day! You won't really start feeling restriction until you start eating soft foods That's also when you start being able to feel "full". One tip for the hunger: Sugar-free jello, DON'T CHEW IT WELL! It will be slippery enough to get into your stomach all right, but it will take your stomach a while to break it down, so you feel full for a while. The little ready-to-eat cup is the perfect size! Good luck! p.s. In my area, bariatric support meetings are open to everyone, even if you didn't have surgery at their facility. Maybe you can find one near you?
