    50 Pounds Gone

I am so happy today! 50 pounds gone! It has taken 3.5 months, which is longer than I thought it would take, but it's 50 pounds gone which is more than I've ever lost before regaining! I lost 25 pounds the first month and have been averaging 10 pounds for the last 2.5. I had to resign myself to NOT getting to goal by the holidays, but I have felt amazing, never deprived and my skin and hair look great! Slow and steady wins the race! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Officially Not Fatty Matty

    I’m not obese!

So for the first time since probably middle school (30 years ago! (Omg that hurt)) I’m not technically obese per BMI charts! Broke below 240 this morning which puts me at 29. I have a friend who’s a pro body builder and he’s technically obese too without a lick of fat on him so I don’t really give much credit to those charts but I’ll take the little wins wherever I can!

    Hormone changes after surgery?

I don't know if yours is hormone-related or not, but a lot of women DO experience hormone dumps after surgery. It'll usually stabilize a few weeks or months after the weight loss slows down.

    Terrified- surgery Tues

I don’t see why they wouldn’t let you stay overnight if you need it. If you are relatively young and good health you likely wouldn’t need the clot medicine. I was pretty paranoid about clots too but in the end it was good because I was up walking a couple times every hour. This helps you feel way better, faster.

    Terrified- surgery Tues

Each surgeon is different as is each patient. With my sleeve I was in patient overnight and got a dose of heparin before surgery and another the next day. I didn’t go home on blood thinners. Walking really helps with preventing blood clots so make sure you move but don’t overdo it either. If you have any questions you can always call your surgeon. Make sure you have a ride home though; they won’t let you drive yourself post-op. That said, sleeve surgery only takes about 90 minutes to complete so most of your stay will be waiting pre-op and in post-op recovery. Your fears about Covid aren’t without merit. Surgery does affect the immune system for a short while after. If you can avoid crowds and any excessive trips outside your home, I’d do that. Recovering during a pandemic is scary! I’ve been there. I had revision surgery due to GERD in August and I stayed home as much as possible. It made me feel safer and I was less nervous about catching Covid that way.

    Terrified- surgery Tues

evidently more people are getting surgery as an out-patient these days (going home a few hours after surgery), probably due to COVID. I haven't heard of any problems with that. I didn't get a blood thinner. Maybe I did while I was in the hospital, but I didn't have to do anything at home.

    Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!

2 months until my PS!!! It seemed so long ago when I booked it, but now it will be here soon! I'm increasing my iron intake in prep for surgery (esp for pre-surgery labwork). Will start doing pre-reqs next month (labs, mammogram, chest xrays, etc), so that will keep me busy! Fun stuff!!

    Why is this happening???

Struggling to find things to eat at 10 weeks out from RNY. Chicken and beef make me so sick I just have horrible pain and throw up over and over. I am eating greek yogart, snow crab legs and some soups .. green pea and barley. I eat salad with diet dressing and peeled green apples. I snack on chick peas, soy beans and small pretzel sticks. If I try to drink protein drinks it makes me sick and I struggle drinking anything but herbal tea. Anyone know if it will change in the future? Are you able to ever drink and not sip water? Are you ever able to eat normal meat again? Wondering if it gets better .... is it that i don't chewy enough ?
