    My journey so far

Hello! My name is Judi. I had my surgery December 9, 2019. I am five weeks out and have lost 23 pounds since my surgery. I have lost a total of 68 pounds since starting this process around this time last year. Back in 2017, I decided to quit smoking after a 35 year relationship with cigarettes. As a result, I gained 70 pounds and developed additional health problems. I knew I had to do something. So I got serious about wanting the surgery and doing what I had to in order to get healthy. So here I am, 68 pounds lighter and still continuing on my journey to a healthier life.

My surgery is in 2 weeks; starting the pre-op diet tomorrow...glad to hear such a positive story. I'm battling nerves, second thoughts, etc.

Make sure you are getting enough liquids, low BP and high HR are indicative of dehydration. Your heart may be stressing trying to keep your volume/flow rate up.

I think your surgeon removed your organic stomach and put a cast iron pouch in its place! I'm two months out and just started eating artificial meat a week ago...glad to hear you are doing well! The weight is falling off of you!

    Saxenda started

I increased my Saxenda injection to the 1.2 mg for week 2 yesterday. For anyone starting Saxenda, I recommend starting it on a Saturday or Sunday as the increase can give you a worn down feeling as your body adjusts to the increase. The only side effect so far has been a feeling of a sour stomach and loss of appetite (that one's good). I weighed in this morning at 325.5 lbs, so nearly -16 lbs in 1 week of Saxenda and 3-1/2 weeks of intermittent fasting, portion control and carb reduction (just trying to avoid major carb intake). I feel good, but haven't noticed any weight loss in the mirror....yet. Thanks for the positive vibes and comments, I'm trying!

My OB/GYN thinks that I have had PCOS since I was a teen/puberty. I have 4 children. This isn't me trying to boast. I'm currently on Mirena. All of the times I got pregnant I was on the mini pill. Progestin-only no other hormone. I've only conceived between these weights. 230lb to 270lb. I'm not sure how uncommon it is for that to balance someone out. During blood work, Progesterone and Vitamin D are the only levels that ever showed up alarmingly low for me. So my OB/GYN recommended Mirena instead to make sure I don't have an accidental pregnancy or trouble with continuous bleeding and sporadic periods. I feel slightly embarrassed and erroneous saying I'm technically infertile. Without the mini pill, I likely wouldn't have been able to have children. I wonder if seeing an endocrinologist specifically for fertility-related reasons would help just to raise whatever is low. I was also on 500mg of Metformin with my last baby so that may have also been at work with the progestin. I hope I'm not being offensive to you or your OB/GYN. Maybe I was just a rare case that isn't similar to most PCOS hormone imbalances. So this wouldn't be helpful at all. I just thought it might be worth a shot later on. I'm only done with the first stage of my insurance for Weight Loss Surgery. I don't have a surgery date yet. I was just told by the weight loss clinic that my file was processing this last week and I'd hear back in 2-6 weeks. I hope everything goes well for you and the weight loss is enough to right everything naturally and that you find something to prevent it in the meantime if that's what you are trying to do. ❤️

    My journey so far

Hello Judi. Welcome to the forums, we are not experts just people on the same journey as every other wls person, you will find advice whether you want it or not. Although everyone's experience will be varied and individual, there is some commanality with regards to success. Follow the Dr's food plan, track everyday, ride out the stalls and keep following the plan, hydration is critical as it can be very hard to get caught up once you get dehydrated, don't be afraid to call your surgeon's office if some symptom just doesn't improve. Adancing through the food stages is not linear, some textures may just take longer to adjust to.... Good luck.
