    CO-Workers knowing you business

You can ask your doctor not to put the surgery name on the paperwork. Legally, your HR/boss (whomever handles the paperwork) cannot speak about the surgery even if it is written. If they do, you can sue!

    Getting sleeved tomorrow!

Well, I did it! Made it home today. I ended up staying a day extra in the hospital because my oxygen was low. But I feel so much better now--I am sore, and sleepy, but I feel so much better being home. I was probably the most chicken person in the world for getting VGS. If I can do it, anyone can!

    CO-Workers knowing you business

In the beginning I was worried about should I tell people or keep it a secret because at my job just like all others everyone gossips, that's life though and we are all imperfect....BUT as the time passed I have gotten so excited and have pretty much told everyone (in the section that I work in at least) LOL...even 2 of my guy co-workers. I'm older though (probably would forget what made up story I had told folks...) and really don't care much about what people say behind my back because I know who I am...and I want to help anyone who ever thought about having WLS because I was one of the sceptics years ago but because I'm so comfortable with my decision I just feel like what the heck I'd rather people hear it from me than some lie from someone else. My surgery is August 29th, I have some co-workers counting down with me. But that's just me...I'm kinda crazy so you do what works for you PS: We do have an HR department and they follow the HIPPA Law to a T so no one would have found out from them, from past experience they only send a form stating that the employee is approved for FMLA for whatever number of days your doctor feels like you need to take off...no details on the form at all. I wish you the best.

does your company have an HR person? I never turned mine into my boss, I went directly to HR with my completed paperwork. In fact, my boss didn't even know I would be out of work until 3 days prior to surgery. And when he asked me what was wrong, I told him I'd rather not share. You have no obligation to share.

    Insurance question

Is this in addition to the required nutritional visits with the dietitian? Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you for this! While I am very committed to this massive life change, I'm also in the pre-surgery jitters stage. 5 more days! So, my anxious litte brain is fixating on any and all of the worries and complications associated with bariatric surgery. Nice to read some positive stats while in this frame of mind. Obviously, I have all the evidence I need that this is a great choice for me and lots of others (hello message boards). But, whew! I underestimated this anxiety in the home stretch. I think it's less about the actual surgery than is it about the fact that I absolutely hate being touched by strangers and especially in a medical setting. I'm also horrible about speaking up for myself because I'm trying to be the perfect patient. Therapy topic for this week perhaps?

    Last visit with surgron pre-WLS

I started before surgery because I wasn't used to taking lots of pills and was nervous about abruptly starting them all on top of recovering from surgery. A few months ahead of my surgery I started slowly adding them in to my normal routine. I did have to stop them a day or two prior to surgery so be sure to ask if your surgeon has any specifics about that.

    Insurance question

I haven't been told anything about a PT requirement as of yet. I have my last required apt next Wednesday so I will definitely ask.
