    Processed Food Toxins

Thanks for your response! What kind of protein shakes were acceptable to you, or did you make your own using unflavored protein powder? I can tolerate a small amount of the commercial stuff, but not every day -- my hands and feet will itch relentlessly, then blister, ooze and take forever to heal. It truly is toxic stuff to my system. I'm not veggie or vegan, but eat as clean, non-GMO and organic as possible. I must plan ahead for deviations and weigh the risks. The Unjury is OK, but awfully sweet tasting. I'm working on my own recipes...

Thank you! It's definitely been trying but, I refuse to give up on myself. My surgery is the 25th too, we're twins! YAY! You're a great inspiration. Glad to be able to go through this with you. Feel free to jump on over to June RNY Buddies. If I remember correctly, there are a couple others on there scheduled for June 25th as well. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/415630-june-rny-buddies/

I’m officially six months post op (RNY 11/7/17) and couldn’t be happier with my decision to have weight loss surgery. It’s been an uphill battle with finding new meals and keeping up with diet and exercise but this new tool that I’ve been blessed with has made it a lot easier and I’m confident that I will go on to reach my goals. Kindness is a Movment

It’s too bad you feel this way. I’m unable to attend my monthly support group meeting most months at my local hospital due to my work schedule. I joined this site and started browsing the forums shortly before my surgery. I have learned so much from the other members here, and when able have tried to share things that may in turn be useful to others as well. Have other members here had different opinions? Why sure. That is what part of makes this a nice place to get advice and suggestions. You are going to get multiple different outlooks and opinions on topics that are posted. Have there been a few members that seemed a bit overly malicious as AshAsh stated? Yes. But on the whole, this is a community of people all struggling with a common problem and we all want to be healthy in the long run. I think anytime you are posting on the internet you have to understand that if you ask for stranger’s advice, you may receive it in a more straightforward manner than you are used to. If you cannot emotionally handle the advice or opinions, you probably shouldn’t be asking for them or posting about it in an online forum. That being said, I have mostly only seen people trying to help each other. I’m glad this site exists for those of us unable to reach out in real life to other bariatric patients.

I think sympathy might mean something different to what I understand it as? I expect sympathy, as I would if any person had heard my story, but I don't expect that to change what advice she gives me? I work with birthing mothers and I have sympathy for them, it doesn't mean I would offer each one a GA and a c-sec because that would be detrimental in the long-term, if not satisfactory in the short term. I am not expecting her to tell me that "an occasional slice of cake won't be a problem". Frankly, it already is that's why I'm in this mess. I just want her to be flexible (within the limits) of the pre-op diet and work /with/ me rather than order me about like I'm coming to her with normal weight issues.

Rash all over my upper body !

You could also be having a reaction to meds or something else related to surgery. Get checked out---I had a similar issue for a different surgery and ended up covered in hives and on prednisone for 2 weeks. Turns out I was allergic to the antibiotics and painkillers they had given me.

    Not having support from partner

Boy, you came to the right group to ask that question and get honest answers. Lol I'm married 28 yrs n it's been 1 heck of a roller coaster! I know my partner sometimes better than myself, so I choose not to tell him anything until I was approved and in my 2 week pre op liquid diet. Sad, yes, but necessary because when you live with passive aggressive or insecure partners, you have to be your own advocate. (you must read the thread, "I want to throat punch my husband" just substitute husband for partner n you will see it not so uncommon. ) I already know there r issues there. I agree with everyone, you need to do what is right for you when it is right for you. In the meantime, be strong in yourself and your decision to take care of yourself and let your partner know that up front. A week ago my husband was buying eggplant parm heroes for dinner for me while I'm on pre op liquid diet and not being supportive at all, questioning my decision and not agreeing with it...n last night he laid in bed with me and read through my entire folder and helped me put together a shopping list for my post op 4 weeks. Give her time to adjust and you just keep holding firm, she might just surprise you! If not, you have a wealth of support here with people that know u r doing the right thing ???? Good luck????
