    Day 4 Post-Op

You are probably still retaining your surgery fluids, once you get rid of them you'll be losing like a jackrabbit! And then I bet you'll be posting good news week by week! Congratulations on your successful surgery. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

I have Blue Cross. My doctor's office processed everything for me. Like you, I was nervous about some last minute denial of benefits. Toward the end, my insurance company sent me an approval letter that outlined the date, the surgery, and that it was approved. Maybe ask your insurance company if they do that? It put my mind at ease to have it in writing that everything was covered.

That does stink that it basically adds a stall week per month because of our stupid menstrual cycle. Joys of womanhood I guess! I remind myself about how many calories equals a pound each time I've stepped on the scale this week. It is super frustrating. I've fluctuated all the way to +4lbs. And then the next morning I will be down 2lbs and so on.... Next month when it is this time, I won't even weigh in. It's too stressful.

    Approval

I did my upper endoscopy yesterday. Aside from the IV needle in the hand, it was pretty painless. Also they are more than likely going to have you do a urine sample for pregnancy testing. The actual procedure is only 10-15 minutes but after they let you sleep off the anesthetic it’s about 45 minutes. Hope your barium swallow test went well today. And the nutrition appointments fly by pretty quickly [emoji846]

I’m 27 and live in Texas. I started the whole process in November and just got approval by my insurance company. I’ll be having surgery May 29th right after the school year ends. I’m both excited and nervous.

So the upper gi was super simple, I was in the office maybe 2 hours total and that was for registration, prep and after. I don’t remember any of it but I had no issues once the anesthesia wore off. Also the psych appointment I had this morning was easy too, he was super easy to talk to, and the questions were just every day things. Happy early birthday!!!! I have to lose weight to show that I’m dedicated to the program and success. I’m trying my best but it’s very difficult. I have read so much on this app and other apps, websites, articles etc that have educated me and help me through this process. My family is also very supportive which is helping me a lot. I am happy to know someone else on about the same timeline as me!!

The nurses all understand but it makes the residents and interns edgy. How do they ever present this on Grand Rounds? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
