Just thought I would share a bit of humor. First and foremost remember, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". I am 9 months out of surgery, and have now lost 230 lbs. and losing. It is quite a change. So I get home from work on evening and step out of my car and a lady in our neighborhood, whom I have known from a distance for 20 years, is walking her dog as she does everyday. She stops in front of my house and looks at me and this is how the conversation goes...... HER - Are you the same person? The same person who has lived here for years? ME - Yes it's me, how are you doing? HER - YOU HAVE LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT! YOU WERE SO BIG! ME - Yes, thank you, I have lost quite a bit of weight. HER - (throwing her arms out as if she was being nailed to a cross) BUT YOU WERE SO BIG! YOU WERE HUGE! And now you look great. How much have you lost? ME - 228 lbs. HER - THAT IS AMAZING! (she had such an excited look on your face) How did you do it? ME - I had surgery. HER - Oh! (and her face deflated, and she looked down her nose with disapproval) These people think we have cheated because we had surgery, or took the easy way out. Little do they know. LOL! I swear I get that reaction so many times when I mention surgery. I am not one to lie, but I think this is going to start being my response to that question we all get of "how did you do it?" My Answer Will Be - I drink a Coke and have chocolate everyday, and eat pasta at least three times a week. At least the look on their faces will be better than that look of disapproval.

First up I finally was approved for surgery! I got a call Wednesday that it was denied. My doctor must of given em hell as I got the call this morning that they reversed the decision and my surgery is indeed on March 14th! Whoa! Also wanted to share a sale on premier protein shakes at Sam's Club. They are 12.66 for a 12 pack. There is a limit of three per member which sucks but still worthy if you use them. They have a lot of protein type products on sale too. It started on the 28th and I do believe runs until the 25th of March.

    Tip for getting in water

I was sleeved on 2/28 and have found that drinking out of a travel coffee mug helps me get a lot of liquids in while maintaining the "sip" factor. Hope this helps someone out there!

Almost 10 months post sleeve, and I have noticed that it's time for me to add in one more lifestyle change on top of my plant based diet. I have added IF, intermittent fasting, 16:8. I was going to wait until one year, but it seems as if I've got to a standstill and I've got about 30-40 lbs to lose still. For those who don't know, IF is not a diet...it's just changing WHEN you eat. I fast for 16 hours (mostly sleeping) and then I eat all my food within 8 hours (or I try to). I work out during my fast as well for extra benefits. I implemented it three days ago and I'm down 2 lbs now. I used to do IF during my obese days and I was successful for three months, changing my body's physique and burning fat, BUT I wasn't successful in my head. I'm sure I probably got injured (as it was always happening then) and I succumbed to emotional eating as I always did. Now, my head is in a better place, and I'm in control MOST of the time. Still not perfect, and probably never will be, but I'll strive to be so. So, here's to a Newme...in 2018 too!

I finally got the call yesterday evening. I’m getting sleeved on April 4th at 6 am. I started this journey in March 2017 and had all of my testing and prerequisites finished by the beginning of September and have been just waiting for my surgery date. I’m super excited and nervous. I can’t wait til the surgery is behind me and I’m all healed up. I’m going through the Veterans hospitals and everything takes a lot of waiting. I’m so glad that I kept hopeful and didn’t give up on the whole process.

Lol . I'm 7 months out. Weight is pouring of and I'm not dieting. I don't track unless I need to just check I'm eating right amount every now and again. I eat the foods allowed on the plan and get on with my day. I don't feel I'm dieting what's so ever. I'm sorry you feel that way. It would suck for me too. Sent from my Vivo 5R using Tapatalk

    Sleep! Post-Op Day 2

I had my surgery on 2/27 and was released from the hospital this afternoon 3/1. In the hospital I loss sleep due to the nurses poking me every 2-3 hours. However now that I'm home, I can't figure out how to sleep in my flat bed. Should I sleep in the chair? I'm having a rough start. Where did everyone sleep on their 1st night home???? You will get there, no worries. Diabetes is the worst! I was pre diabetic prior to my surgery. So glad I got this surgery. Almost everyone in my family has diabetes. It's an awful disease. Sent from my Nexus 5 using BariatricPal mobile app
