On a train to Crazy Town

I can understand the second thoughts and challenges. I went through those thoughts all the way through the process. I'm two months post op and overall, I feel great. Down about 85 lbs from my heaviest. The benefits of being lighter outweighs (a bit of a pun there) the challenges the journey brings....in my experience. I have coffee now every morning. Doesn't make me have any ill effects. I also have the occasional glass of wine. Now I do recommend not trying these things right away...you want to heal up before doing too much. In reality, wine and coffee didn't even sound appealing until much later in the process for me. I recommend not getting too hung up on what you're giving up...it's not the same type of temptations post op as it was pre op. Everything feels so different post op that it's like trying everything over again and you find new things u like and realize you might not like old things you used to. These are only my experiences...everyone can experience and tolerate things differently. Good luck with your journey.

Today I called and inquired about secondary insurance with first health conventey. I've read good things about the insurance and I'm hoping that'll get be back on track for coverage in addition to the health insurance provided with my husbands work. Anyone have similar situations?

Hit the 3 week stall :(

But otherwise, how are you doing? Has the three weeks been tough or are you feeling okay? I am getting a little anxious about it all.

Mine and my husbands both exclude as well. I have wanted to find one that does. I have 49 BMI. Sleep apnea and high blood pressure and cholesterol so I would be approve on a plan that offers it. I would quit my job and work somewhere that offers it with their plan but it's hard to find out till you are already hired. Is this secondary expensive? I found the Dr I want in Mexico but it would be good to have a back up incase if issues.

    What I want to believe

Hey Jan17, I have struggled as well, setting at 240 for many years. Bottom line is, I bounced up and down on my weight for years and have finally decided to at 60 years old to go forward with the surgery. I have now developed three illnesses probably all caused by my weight I'm gonna fix this and add many years to my life. I've also decided to become more active and enjoy what life I have left with traveling and scuba diving and any other activities I want to do, my weight won't stop me. My surgery is in two days.

    Protein and water

I can understand were you are coming from. I'm on the step two diet and the instructions that was giving to me was I can eat anything that can fit through a funnel. So if it is mashed up really well and it is soft then I can eat it. I get the pre made tunn that comes in the package. There only 1$ you can get them at dollar tree. There very high in protein and it comes pretty well smashed up. That 1 packaged can last me all day. My portion is very small but I can eat things like that. I will definitely try some new flavors in my protein shakes. Thanks for your comment and your advice. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    2 Week Follow Up

What on earth could you possibly be consuming to get 2000 calories at 2 weeks postop? Even if you drank 2 quarts of whole milk, that'd only be 1200....

My four week pre-op shakes and food is supposed to start Thursday Sept 14th ready for surgery Thursday October 12th. I actually kicked it off 15 days ago just to familiarise my adaption. I did have a "blowout" for my sister-in-law's 60th 9/9/17 ... beer, smorgasbord, cake, etc. Already down 6.9kg (16-17 lbs) ... caused my surgeon and dietitian much pleasure.

I have been eating too much of course! I went to see him and he has now put me on the waiting list and says I have been granted funding. They aim to do the surgery within 18 weeks he said but he also thinks it will be a lot sooner. I went to see the dietician again and she showed me the pre op diet. I think I might be able to do it but it will take a lot of will power! How did you do on the preop?
