    Body Dissociation

I posted a picture on fb of myself the other day and it was next to someone who plays college football, 6'5" 338 pounds, HUGE guy. Of course I felt so tiny next to him but the reality is that at 4'11" and 185 I looked like I was fixin' to do some linebacking myself! lol I did not want to post the picture because I don't want to believe that is ME but the truth is - THAT IS ME. I don't want it to be but it is. This is me. I don't know if i have disassociated with myself or not. It will be interesting to think about what you have said and see how I feel after surgery. Oddly, when I am with my husband I don't feel like it is not me. I feel like this is me and he is okay with me. But what if I just think I think like that? LOL! Don't make me think too deeply. Congrats on your surgery and your weight lost so far! This is you and you are becoming healthier every day.

    New to wls

G'day from the east coast of Australia. I joined yesterday and have spent much of the last 16-17 hours familiarising myself with the site and its forums. Tomorrow my time, Monday 4th Sept at NOON, I meet with my surgeon to finalise my gastric sleeve surgery date. (It's Sunday 3rd Sept 2:30pm now, the afternoon of Fathers' Day here. Waiting with bated breath for this exciting 'path to the better future' for me. Regards, Rainbow_Warrior

    Having vsg Sept 8 2017

I'm on day 2 of liquids. I'm doing 3 premier protein shakes a day, broth, sf jello and tea, my surgeon also wants 6oz of nonfat plain Greek yogurt daily... but I was really hungry today and dragging...I had 3oz of chicken and a hard boiled egg white at dinner

Good luck on your journey! I recently went clothes shopping because nothing fit anymore. Non-scale victories along the way are great motivators and I wish the same success for you!

    Rate of weight loss?

I think everyone is different and I agree it's a tool. I was sleeved 7/6 and I've lost 34 pds. I didn't lose anything for 30 days and the scale just started back moving. I lost most of my weight right after surgery. Like a pd or 2 a day. I struggled a along time to lose weight and I am glad I did it. At least I am losing and keeping it off this time. No regrets no rush. I do need to increase my exercise.

    Body Dissociation

I agree, I didn't see myself that way. I think, if I did, I never would have woken up from the "dream" and worked to get myself healthy again.

    Rate of weight loss?

I have to disagree, the amount of weight lost has nothing to do with how much you weigh. Everybody is different. For instance, my mother was 270 before her gastric bypass, at 5'7" her goal weight is 170. So that's 100 pounds. The fact that you are only 5' your suggested goal weight would be 115 to 130. So technically you need to lose the same amount as her. I don't see how that would make you any different than her. She had gastric bypass in March and she has already lost 80". On the other hand, I have friends who have had gastric sleeve that have lost as much weight and at the same rate. Whatever surgery you choose, it's gonna be hard, but there's no way of knowing how much or how fast you will lose weight. That all depends on how much effort you put in, but you could be just as successful as anyone else. Most people do lose the majority of their weight the first year, but honestly you would have less saggy skin if you did only lose 10 pounds a month. So it's a win either way, lol!

I too had my bad slip most likely because I had a 22 lb baby in my tummy moving around. Lol. I feel your pain I lost 140 lbs with the band and was doing great. I gained a lot of it back :/ i also had gallbladder surgery this past winter after band removal and a knee injury so I was in bed a lot. I'm doing all my pre op appointments right now.
