Is this too big of a meal?

I'm 2 1/2 months PO. I'm losing great (down 80lbs) , but as my diet progresses I'm struggling to feel confident in my diet. I would love to hear your guys' thoughts on my average meal size. Typically it's around 2.5-4 oz of meat and then 1/4-1/2 cup of veggies. Sometimes I'll do 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of fruit. I stay under 700 calories a day, and hit around 60 carbs, and shoot for 50g protein. My carbs only come from my protein, fruit, and veggies. No bread or grains or processed foods. I can eat this easily, though I definitely feel satisfied after. Does this average meal seem like to much at nearly 3 months. How's the calorie intake-too high??

    August Mexico surgeries?

Will be at hotel Lucerna as well. Surgery fast approaching getting a little nervous. Started the the last 3 days of of my 2 week preop, liquids only. I am actually surprised how not hungry I am considering I have been working hard building a deck and finishing various projects. I made an awesome broth with my fresh garden vegetables , added a little chicken bone broth for added protein and had that for lunch and dinner with a clear premier protein drink for breakfast. It was so nice and effortless that I think I will just repeat again for tomorrow. I am amazed that I have lost 21 lbs in the preop phase.

    When does hunger return?

Me too. It's came back right away. I feel hunger and it's fairly intense. Then I eat a small portion and it's gone.

July 17 is Here... Surgery at 9am

Glad to hear that you are doing well! I am doing well also. My surgery went well and I feel good. I must say though the gas pain was bad for me and it lasted for hours! It was not a pleasant time for me. I did however walk a lap around the hallway just hours after surgery. I am happy all is going well for me. iamready4this

    Advice and Support Needed!

My insurance required me to do a six month doctor supervised diet program before they would pay for the surgery. I decided that since I had to do the diet program anyway, I might as well really apply myself and see how much I could lose pre-op. I lost 99 pounds (from 397 to 298) by the day of surgery. It was the best thing that I could have done for myself. I redefined my relationship with food, purged myself of carbs, and got into a positive mindset regarding eating and drinking before I had to deal with the realities of the surgery and the subsequent recovery. And it made the stalls that come along post-op SO MUCH EASIER to handle emotionally. (When my 3 week stall hit -- and it hits everyone -- I had lost 120 pounds, not just 20 pounds, and that made dealing with the stall much, much easier.) As of today, I have lost 193 pounds total. Without all my pre-op work, that total would only be 94 pounds. I am on the verge of my goal; without the pre-op work I did, I'd still have a long, long way to go. Good luck!

    Advice and Support Needed!

It makes things easier when you lose weight prior to getting sleeved. Firstly, your liver is less congested when you lose weight, so it is more apt to be out of the way and less likely to be inadvertently nicked or scraped by the surgeon during the procedure. Finally, losing weight before surgery gets you that much closer to your goal weight. Do not be like me: I actually gained 25 pounds while waiting to be sleeved due to maladaptive food funerals (a.k.a. overeating all my favorite foods one last time before saying "goodbye"). My initial consultation weight was 200 pounds and I was up to 225 pounds one week before the surgery. Thank goodness my surgeon and insurance company had no issues with my substantial weight gain. I did reach my goal weight, but the weight gain prior to the sleeve was a setback. If I could do it all over again, I would have ensured my head was into the right mindset earlier in the process. Good luck to you.
