    Intermittent Fasting

I do Bulletproof, and have had great success. But everyone is different. The coffee kick starts my day, and I still get my needed protein in throughout the day and I feel fully energized . After a year of surgery, when I don't bulletproof, I don't lose weight or very little, when I start it back up, I usually lose 2-3 pounds a week, even 1 year post op.

    Intermittent Fasting

Maybe we are thinking of different types of fasting. I'm talking about the Dave Asprey's Bulletproof method( he considers it fasting as there is no food, just oils and coffee" too may make the mistake of doing low carb and low fat. The high fat coffee is a great way to kick start your high fat day. I've broken every weight loss plateau I've had doing it.

    Intermittent Fasting

Hey! I IF EVERYDAY. NO BREAKFAST, I do bulletproof coffee instead and then HFLC the rest of the day.
  4. You look awesome! Keep it up
  5. About year ago, I had my gastric sleeve surgery. Its been a crazy time learning exactly how my body interacts with different foods. The truth is, everyone is different, and you just have to learn for yourself what will work for you. Im not perfect. I eat pizza from time to time. Ive blown it out a weekend or 2, or 3. But then I review everything my doctor told me, and I bounce back. From the start I told my doctor that I never wanted to be fat again, I did not want to lose hair and I didn't want loose skin. Well, I did lose some hair, quite a bit at first. It hasn't come back, but is has stopped falling out... I think. I was advised that no matter what, if I lose weight fast, I will have loose skin. So Ive been determined to lose weight as slow as possible. I take in more calories and food than is probably recommended, but I also work out. I started out close to 300 pounds. Today I'm about 206. I lost a bulk in the first month, then about 50 plus pounds over the next 10 months. A part of me wanted to lose much more per month, but I also did not have any loose skin, which was a (superficial) goal. My goal is to get down to around 170-180. Ive been trying to amp it up a bit in the Gym to accomplish that. The most satisfying part of my weight loss journey has been all the energy I have to spend on my 2 young sons and my beautiful wife. I just turned 39, and I feel better than I ever have, ( with the exception of a little knee tendonitis) I sometimes forget my vitamins, and occasionally fall back into bad eating habits, but instead of gaining 30 pounds like before, the scale my move just a few ticks up, enough to put me into panic mode and get on track. Im off all my meds, no more high blood pressure, no high cholesterol, no acid reflux ( just finsteride for hair loss). I look forward to the next year and continuing toward my goal. I wish everyone well, and hope all those who are just beginning the process great success!
  6. Your welcome and I wish you well as your body adjusts over the next few months. It's natural to want to lose weight so fast, I just don't think it's necessary, and certainly not it you want to avoid most loose skin. Obviously the larger a persons frame the harder it is to avoid that, but working out and adding more calories certainly can help. I'm rooting for you.

  8. Shan0520 you can do it!! I still hate the Gym, lol, but it's a must to help the skin issue as much as possible. I'm rooting for you!

  14. 4 months in, and the last week I've had some paler stools, a tad oily and very gassy. Sorry to be gross. Has anyone else experienced this. I thought it was common with a bypass but not the sleeve. Any advice will help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. A little upper back pain, feels more like a muscle pull. Not constant though. Nothing other than what I mentioned. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. My sleeve was done on 4/14. The week prior to my surgery I still had not been told what my responsibility was. I knew my deductible was met and that I had a max 10,000 benefit for the surgery. After several calls the surgeon called me and said my responsibility was 400 with them. The hospital finally called me 2 days prior and said my responsibility was 1100 and that was owed immediately. I paid that day..... 3 months later, yesterday I received a bill for 9,300. On My first call to hospital billing, the rep said I had a 10,000 maximum and so Humana only paid partially. And they wanted me to pay the rest. I said then why didn't they apply that when they called me to take my payment in full. The rep started getting pissy, and said that it was my responsibility to give the insurance coordinator all my info. I replied that's your job to verify my coverage, don't you want to get paid! He then said well sometimes we don't verify your full coverage until several weeks after surgery. Its been escalated now to a supervisor. I called Humana and they said that the most likely scenario is that the insurance coordinator missed that I had. 10,000 max when she told me my estimated out of pocket and took my payment. She obviously had my info and that's why she was able to figure out that I owed 1,100. She just missed the most important part. I had no idea what the hospital charged and what my insurers negotiated rate is that's why I never questioned the amount they said I owed. I also work for Humana and understand how insurance verification works. I assumed they did their job. Has anyone had a similar experience. How was it resolved. Thanks. 18. Today marks 30 days post up. Here are some of my observations GOOD- lost 33 pounds since the surgery. I did not have a pre op diet. Recovery went great. I've been eating solid food since day 13. I am eating 3-4 oz of Protein per meal, fish is easiest, chicken takes a while to eat. Never had nausea, no vomiting. A lot of energy when I wake up in the morning. I get 70-80 oz of Water a day. Got clearance this week for light weight lifting, and anything cardio, including playing basketball( no swimming yet). Fat clothes are way too big now, I've moved on to the skinnier clothes I bought last year when I thought I was going to lose the weight. Surgeon said I don't have to see him for 2 months. Bad- Vitamins have been tough. If there is an awesome tasting multi, please share with me. Mine are just awful. I'm getting better though at taking them. 2 of my incisions are giving me a hard time. Got a bit swollen and slightly infected. A little drainage. Better this week though. I have to learn how to chew my food better. I sometimes forget that I can't take massive bites and I payed for it with immediate pain. I have also forgotten not to drink with eating. Big mistake because you get filled up with one bite. 19. My surgeon instructed me that if I felt too queazy, too add fruit juice to my Water. He said watermelon juice was an excellent way to hydrate, especially mixed with water. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What Fitness Tracker do you use?

I had a jawbone up 3., then a Fitbit charge. Then the Apple Watch. If cost isn't a concern, The Apple Watch for me was by far the best for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I felt the same way you did. The first few days I barely got my Protein and Water in. About 40 oz of water if that. What helped me was I bought the muscle milk pro series Protein shakes that have 40 grams of protein. I made it a point to start my day with that. These are also low carb, only 7 grams. Once I finished, I felt great knowing I was already halfway to my protein goal. I would have another in the evening. And my then my protein goal was filled. My NUT said I could count that towards my water goal. Those 2 shakes total 30 oz already. Almost halfway to the water goal too. I drank water with fresh mint infused the rest of the day. And homemade beef broth, which was like heaven. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
