    #FitCouple?

My husband is a type 1 diabetic but wasn't doing all he could to give himself the best care. I didn't ask him to modify his eating when I had surgery, but he did and he lost weight like crazy. He also does all the cooking, so I think that made it easier for him to make the jump. We do super high protein/low carb dishes and snacks. He chose to come to the gym with me and that was a huge game changer. We now do that and all kinds of activities like bowling, disc golf, etc. together. All of our friends joking refer to us as "the power couple" since we're both healthier, more fit, happier, and super active. Best of luck to you and your husband on your journey!

    Will I feel normal again?

Oh dear... Please relax... Sleeved Dec. 19, 2016... Life will be better for you. I do got out to eat with my family. The only difference is that I do not order. I get to taste test everything from my family's plate. Lol I take a small puzzle book or note pad with me and I am the game leader while they eat. You just have to find a normal for you. Be creative.

    Please

    I'm so tired!!!

I was 8 weeks before this stopped. It wasn't constant for me but would hit me like a brick. I was the type that couldn't nap or close my eyes in a crowd , but soon I found my self sleeping in a store parking lot in my car , I'd just get so sleepy. Or I had to pull over driving into town (1/2 hr drive). Getting better now. At 2 months post op.

Sleeved this past Monday. The first 24 hours were just awful but normal, I guess. Got way better yesterday. I decided to stay the one extra night. Ins paid for it and I wanted to use what attention I could get medically and have a small break before heading home to three young girls. Lol. The incision site where they stiched my muscle, is very sensitive and hurts when I cough/laugh, so I'm looking to get a smaller binder to help put some pressure on it. Gas pain wasn't too bad, just burped everything out. Overall, I feel pretty good. Could use a nap though. Just waiting for my discharge papers. 😊

    Just wondering

Way to go! I'm sure you are working hard! Hope you are proud of yourself! Weight loss can slow down but it is different for everyone. There can be a lot of reasons for this but don't let it mess with you. Focus on keeping up the good habits - whatever exercise you like, lean protein first and hydration. One reason that weight loss can slow down is that we weigh less and it takes less energy to do the same activities. As my surgeon put it - It is like driving a car to Florida and hauling something. If you are hauling 3000 pounds you are going to use more gas than if you are hauling 1000 pounds. Cravings and head hunger started to get really intense around the 8 to 9 month mark for me. It doesn't happen for everyone, some people don't even get cravings back. My best advice is read about mindful eating or books by Geneen Roth maybe get some counseling (helpful for me cause I'm a stress eater) and if possible avoid keeping around sweets if they trigger you to eat. I keep around sugar free popsicles and yogurt for when I really want something sweet. All the best to you!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Update, Post Vacation, Pics

Amazing!! I am in the same boat as you -- I want to hike, explore, never have to worry that my size will prevent me from doing anything. Great job!! Love the pics, Ireland is on my bucket list too, so glad you shared your experience!

Odds are that all the pre-op tests will be fine. Try to keep busy to occupy your mind and the time will fly by!

    Help with protein!

You are only a week out and were just vomiting for three days. Don't put anything in that's thicker than plain milk. Can you tolerate milk? If so, spend the next two days just drinking that and water. (Personally I don't mind the fat in 2%.. Personal choice). Drink a couple quarts if you want. This early out, it's all about healing.
