Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Body image is a journey, too. We need to see ourselves differently. Wonderful to feel healthier and have more energy.

Wonderful to wear smaller clothes and NOT regain, each time we lose.

How is everyone doing? Did anyone develop a hernia after surgery? If so, how did you deal withit? I had the single incision surgery.

Hey everyone, It has been a long time since on here early June was the last time. I had band placed 2 -4-10 and am down 30 lbs. I have had 3 fills, but it is soooo slow coming off. I read other peoples weight loss and feel like a big failure...... but must say slow and steady, have done some cheating, so I cant complain. I need to walk more too. Im sooo stressed and that does not help I guess.......Good luck everyone......

Hang in there. Slow and steady wins the race. Don't compare yourself to others we are all different creatures.

Hi All - I have not been on here in a long time and am so glad to see all the success. I am doing well.....better than I thought I would. I was slow and steady until I started my new job July 1st and boom....I dropped 15 + like it was nothing. The oddest thing happened....the stress made me NOT eat. What?! Certainly not the "old" response.

Body image is a tough one. I feel fantastic and am full of energy, but when I look in the mirrror my image doesn't seem to match. I try to focus on my health and how I feel rather than how I look :smile2:

Congrats, Northern Mist. You are doing so well.

For me, this past 6 months have changed my life too. So wonderful to NOT focus on food. I'm enjoying 31 less lbs. of fat and clothes fitting comfortably.

Let's all keep marching toward our goals.

Like so many other people, I was hoping the weight would miraculously fall off quicker, but I'm NOT complaining -I had my surgery on 02-04-2010 and lost about 37 lbs. It's weird, because even though my clothes are baggy, they aren't HUGE on me... I would have thought that 37 lbs would make more of an impact size-wise. I have had a few NSV's which make this whole process SO worthwhile (like airplane seatbelts fitting easily, having a lap again  and not feeling like a wolverine wanting to eat everything in sight :))...I'm SO glad I made the decision to have the surgery :tt2:

Sharon checking in:

Was down 29 pounds but gained two back this past month. I've been a bad girl and found the joy of ice cream this summer. I've stopped though and am re-committing to eat properly. In the past my binging would have resulted in gaining lots of weight, but with the band my mini-binge didn't set me back too far. Though the band doesn't prevent me from eating fat and sugar it sure does limit the amount of food I can eat. Still need to work on willpower to avoid fat and sugar and to exercize.

Good luck everyone!

I've been slow and steady at about 1 pound per week until about June when the loss came to a crazy halt! I have lost about 4 pounds in the last two and a half months and I am not happy at all. Heading to the Dr. soon so a fill is in line, resumed journaling all my food and discovered a sever Protein deficiet. I am dragging it back on track, but this is way slower than I expected! Thinking now about all the weight I can have off by Christmas--hopefully I will be in Onederland--that is my goal!

Looking back to exactly a year ago...I was in a size 24/26 and in misery. I am now a comfortable 16P--no more "W" after my number, thank you! I exercise nearly every day and have been taken off about half of my meds and the ones that are left the doses have been changed.

Moving from a very unstructured summer vacation mode to the structure that comes with the school year should help.

Good luck everyone!

Keep up the good work. Slow and keeping it off is wonderful. We are no longer gaining and becoming more healthy every day.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
