Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Below is my progress, but keep up the good work, it may be slow going at times but as long as it goes down its all good..

I'm very excited at my new cholesterol results. I've lost 55lbs to date and feel so much better. My issue use to be finding things in my closet that fit me and i still have the same issue because everything is too big on me. I LOVE IT!

Hi Everyone! I had my surgery 2/11/2010...and I'm down 30 lbs. I'm also up and down the scale, within 2-3lbs...then plateau...then lose a pound or two...its a vicious cycle, lol. I am happy I'm not gaining though. I think I need to change up my excercise and I'm due for a fill.

Good Luck to all!

Congrats Panfisher and Deuces.

Evil - I've lost 29 and, like you, fluctuate 2-3 lbs. then lose more. It's so wonderful to NOT regain as we lose, just keep plugging away toward goal. yippee

The process is a lot slower than I had hoped it would be . I am more on the 1 pound per week side of weight loss. Slow and steady I guess!

Hi Feb. Bandsters! I was banded on 02/04/2010 and have lost about 42 pounds since then. I am filled to 6cc in a 10cc band. Loving my band and grateful for it!

Just back from the Dr. Ended up being unfilled .25cc so back to 5cc in a 10cc band. I was unable to eat more than three bites befor ebeing sick, so a little unfill was the rec. from the doc. I have not lost any weight in 3 weeks, so hopefully being able to eat will help me to start losing again!

Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I've checked in. I am so excited for everyone... good job! I'm plataued badly at 204 I think it's because I'm inconsitant. Most of the time I eat my 2 oz. per meal, but every once in a while I sneak in a snack and I am totally craving all sorts of food when I follow the instructions to a T: 3- 2oz meals a day mostly Protein a little veggie, no dairy, 3 30 g Protein Shakes and lots of Water. This diet is totally leaving me lacking...:smile2:. I am so hungry. Sometimes I eat too fast and I have to P.B. YUCK, but it's become a problem with my teeth. The dentist says the acid from my stomach is wearing off the enamel of my teeth! So be aware, you may need to see a dentist if you are p.b.ing once a week or more.

What kind of diet are you all on? Is it as scaled back as mine? Are you allowed fruits at least once a day? I'm only allowed 2 times a week as part of my 2 oz. meal. I need to find out if there is a different way of approaching this.. more forfilling. Thanks for your help!:bolt:

Hi everyone. I was banded on February 19, 2010 in Raleigh, NC. I started at 336lbs and weighed in yesterday at 296lbs. So that's 40 pounds and I had no pre-surgery diet. In addition, i didn't do well with my first fill at the end of March. I was too tight and have had no Fluid in my bad ever since. So, I have been doing it without any added restriction.

I have recently been feeling a little bummed cause I feel like this is getting harder and harder to do. In addition, my hair is falling out a lot and I am feeling really self-conscious about it. Anyone have an thoughts on how to add more Protein? recipes maybe or supplements?

I totally feel you on the Hair loss, I'm drinking Protein Shakes 30 grams a shake 3 meals a day and I still lost hair. Totally not attractive, but this is just a bump in the road and they say by 1 year your hair will be back to normal. Don't get too discouraged, I've been wearing hats. Also new haircuts with layers add more volume to your hair so it looks like more than it is. As for the protein there is a whole bunch of ways to get it in, add unflavored Protein Powder to your drinks. Unjury has a chicken Soup flavored protein. My favorite is Cookies and cream by Oh Yeah! You just have to keep trying them to find one that is yummy to you, vitalady.com has samples for sale if you don't want to buy a whole tub, just want a taste! Good luck and keep in touch about the hair issue... it happens to alot of us!

hi everyone and congratulations to all of us!

i started at 103 kilograms (227) and now i am down to 82 (180) yay yay yay!!! 47 pounds!!!

my journey began on the 11 February 2010 and will continue...

i am feeling kinda weird about body image stuff and was wondering if anyone else is having similar issues. at 227 pounds i felt fat, but attractive and confident... now i look at myself and sometimes i feel great and am very happy with the progress, but more often, i look at the sagging skin and at how fat i am and feel less attractive, less sexy, and more dissatisfied with what i see in the mirror than i did 5 and a half months ago.

sometimes the inability to binge and feel full and comforted is maddeningly frustrating...

am i alone in this particular wilderness???

iamhealthy -- I know what you mean. It's hard to go from "she's fat but she has such a pretty face" to plain old regular chubby with sagging skin. I'm trying to come to terms with the fact that since I was last thin the years have gone by and it doesn't look quite so cute!

I think we both need to be patient. I've read here that with lower BMIs some excess skin magically disappears (to a certain point) and that things resettle for the better. I hope that's true!

Congratulations on your success.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
