23 days post op and I have lost only one pound since the pre-op diet. I know I should not complain 21 pounds down during those two weeks, but to only have lost 1 pound in the last 23 days is a real bummer. I am now eating soft solids so maybe I will see some scale movement? I can only hope. I think I could eat and eat and eat, but I am on will power only as I wait for my first fill on the 17th. It seems so far away now! Hopefully the pounds will start to go down.

Hang in there Patsal that scale will start to move. All you have to do is follow your diet and exercise. That first fill is right around the corner. You are going to make it.

Keep up the good work.

First Fill Today!

I had my first fill this morning! At first the Dr. put in too much and then asked me to go drink three glasses of Water in the waiting room. I got 2 sips down and the 3rd one felt like a lump in my chest (ouuchhh). He readjusted it a couple of minutes later and I could actually feel the water drain from the pouch. Now I have a liquid diet for 2 days then I am on soft foods! I am so excited, I can't wait to EAT something. My weight has come off really quickly so I expect it will slow down alot once I get eating again. I have found that the weight will come off quick, then it slows down for a while. So if you are worried that you are not losing quick enough, hang tough, you will be soon!

Much <3,

Hang in there!

You are journaling everything you eat and drink?

Keeping track of your Protein level and calories?

Maybe call the nutritionist on staff and talk with them. Hopefully your office has a support system for you.

I think my body went into shock in the liquids, as soon as I started on soft foods, I gained 3 pounds, consuming only 1000 calories.

I think you body may need some time to adjust to the different way of eating.

Good Luck!

Hello Everyone!

Congrats on everyone's progress, I however am feeling very sad. I lost 15 pounds pre-op and 10 post-op. I have been banded for 16 days. I have not lost anything for a week. I just started mushies, I am doing everything that has been suggestion from the doctor'd office and nutritionist. I am drinking plenty of Water and Protein Shakes. What is up? My first fill will be around the 27th. Just feeling bumbed =(

Outdoor girl - 25 lb loss is great. It will happen. Just keep following our band rules and, perhaps journal your intake. Will help them when they fill.

I've lost 17 lbs. in a month. That is a little over 4 per week - which I'm very happy with. We are starting a new lifestyle and we know how successful this will be. Try to be patient.

Thank you ladykcusa, I was only banded one day before you. WOW, 17lbs, that is amazing! How many calories and Proteins are you getting in a day if I may ask? And are you working out yet? Thank you for the positive reply.

Hello everybody

It has been a bad week for me. I ended up with a urinary tract infection from the Foley catheter that was used during surgery. The infection has zapped all my energy so my exercise has come to a halt along with the scales. I have only lost a half of a pound in 5 days. I’m only eating 900 calories a day. I’m taking my antibiotics and starting to feel better. I’m sure the scale will start moving once I get back to exercising.

I use the journal given by my doctor to record all foods and Water & exercise. This journal only asks for Protein grams (no calories). The goal in the book is 75 grams per day. Normally I have 105 and feel great.

I checked calories for a couple days and ran 750 to 850 calories. After years of dieting, we have to learn a new way to health.

I do NOT want to lose my hair, and I want to start this change carefully and with focus. It takes 21 days to change behavior and only 7 to revert to past behavior.

Best of luck to both/all of us. The rewards will be worth all this effort.

Forgot to answer - no exercise yet. My doctor does not release for exercise until 5-6 weeks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
