Tell us how great it is to reach goal!

Recommended Posts

I started thinking from reading some of these posts, that gosh, being about 30 lbs. from goal, I can't even imagine how thrilling it must be.

On the other hand, I need a kick in the backside to push me there.

Hoping some of your stories will give me encouragement to reach my goal.

My 3 year bandiversary is in March 2010. Has it taken anyone 3 years to reach your goal? I'm starting to feel discouraged.

It must be fantastic! :rolleyes2:

Well, in a way I never have reached goal.

I *said* my goal was 70kg but really, secretly I wanted to be really thin - more like 64kg (140lb) at five foot 10. I have the type of build where I do look better lighter - fine bones, and no bulky muscle. I'm not really curvy and any weight just goes on as flab, not curves.

So, I just kind of kept going until by some strange coincidence, I did stabilise at 68kg. But I never had a OH MY GOD I"M AT GOAL moment. And I still would like to lose more weight, but in truth, it just petered out and no matter what I do now, I cant lose any more. So Im fully accepting that this is what I weigh, but it doesnt feel amazingly triumphant or anything.

I should stop and think about how much I've achieved rather than obsessing over how my ass wobbles.

I was banded April 2009 and have lost 45 lbs. I am now having alot of problems. I want to lose 30 more pounds and its been slow but I'm happy. I now have horrible acid reflux, had a partial unfill 2 days ago and its still there. I was told I have a swollen stoma. She didn't seem worried.I'm afraid to ask for a complete unfill and stop losing. Anyone have any suggestions

It took me 3 years to reach my goal. My lapband surgeon told me to aim for 170 lbs and when i reached his goal i felt as though i was still to large. My family doc and i talked about it and felt that 150 was a reasonable goal for me to hit and to maintain. I am so very proud to say that i did it and even a couple pounds below that. For me the maintaining is the hard and scary part, the thought of gaining freaks me out.

Kelin, I am so with you. I know how to gain and I know how to lose but I don't know how to maintain. I am scared!!! I hope you are doing well at maintenance.

Maryrose, the closer you get to goal the harder it is to lose, don't worry about how long it takes, because the time will pass no matter what you do.

Jachut....LOL your arse wobbling!!!!!

Thank you all for your answers. Jachut, you look terrific. You should be very proud of yourself.

We should all be very proud!

We are all so hard on ourselves, I wonder if we ever feel we are at goal.

Kelin, congrats on reaching your goal.

I hope I can come at least close to it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
