She asked me what kind of diets I had been on, how I felt about exercise, what I expected for surgery to do for me, what I thought life would be like after surgery, why I wanted to do it, what I thought would change, what I thought my eating style was, if I had ever had any issues with binging or purging, and (!) to name the last 3 presidents!!! That was actually the warm-up question, LOL.

There is nothing to worry about; they are not there to keep you out of the program. They DO want to make sure that you have your house in order with respect to any psych meds and or counseling, because it is tough tough tough after banding and every person I know has gone through a bit of a mental state. So be honest, make sure you are set up to succeed. Good luck!!

I had my physch evaluation the other day and it was pretty simple. A lot of the questions were for her to determine (does she think I'm ready to handle the surgery, any signs of substance abuse, any eating disorders etc.) but she asked me how has my weight affected my lifestyle, have I always been overweight, have I tried to do any dieting in the past, what may have caused me to put on the weight stuff to that nature. It's simple.....

In my case it was really nothing. It was just a way for that person to make money, seriously. She asked such boring questions and anyone could have made it through with that lady doing it.

I remember they asked how my weight affects my job, my lovelife <dating etc>, how I think people perceive me. Has my weight deterred me from doing certain things. I told her I can't get a date, I'm too fat, I can't get a promotion, that people look at me in funny ways..things like that..hoped it helps..good luck

Oh, btw, this is my third time.the first two i stopped..i had started my pre-op diet but chickened out..I have a stress test on the 18th then i think im home free...I hope the best for you..stay strong!!

Married? How long?

Is there support from your family?

How long have you been at your current job?

Anyone else in your family obese?

Are your parents alive?

Are they a healthy weight or have a drug or alcohol problem?

Do you have a drug or alcohol problem?

How much do you drink?

Do you have children?

Do you binge or purge?

What do you think this operation is going to do?

Have you thought about after the surgery and the restrictions and "rules" you are going to have to follow?

Typical questions and I answered all of them honestly and as short as I could. I've never been to a psychologist so I was a bit nervous. I think they are just trying to see if you are in a stable frame of mind and have the support of family or friends.

Good luck and don't sweat it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
