When I went, Dr. Acosta did the seminar; however, Dr. Lara is my surgeon. I had my surgery 6/2009. I think he's great, a little straightforward, but that's exactly what I wanted. The office staff is good too, although a couple times it's taken a couple calls to get things done. The one complaint I have is the wait time, it usually takes a couple hours of waiting before I am seen for a fill. I have a 2 hour drive (Alamogordo) home so it's kind of frustrating. Please feel free to ask any specific question you might have, not sure what you'd like to know. Where is the seminar at -- I had to go to Las Cruces, but now they have started one in Alamogordo (just a year too late! LOL)

I was banded by Dr. Acosta on Jan 25, 2010. I really like him. When I changed my mind from the bypass to the band, he made sure I understood the differences. He didn't make me feel stupid for asking the questions I did, etc. I go for my surgery follow-up on Thurs, Feb 11, so I don't know about the office waiting time. Good to know though so that I can take a book or needlework!! Both Acosta and Lara go to Albuquerque and southern NM so no wonder their office is so busy.
