POMCO in Syracuse, NY by Dr. Cooper

Hi All, just joined and am going for my first consult appt. w. Dr. Cooper at Community General Hospital in SYR, NY. Has anyone ever been approved by POMCO or had Dr. Cooper or worked w. Dr. DeSimone's office?

On an emotional side, I am feeling positive about this entire process. I have been overweight/obese most of my life and am ready to transform. I have tried and tried (as all of us have) to change my life around and do feel this is my last resort.

Just looking to connect at this point. I'm kinda nervous and anxious but I know that if it is meant to be it will be.

Thanks all

I am in the middle of the whole process right now with Dr. DeSimone and Dr. Copper. I saw DeSimone on my first appointment and he was very nice. I have seen Copper twice so far and he is very nice also. As of Wednesday Dr. Copper said my paper work could go through to the insurance he felt that it was most likely going to be approved. YA!!!

But from my experience with the whole office so far as been GREAT!

So good lucky and let me know how it goes. its nice to have someone local to chat with.

Hi Curlicue22,

Thank you so much for your reply to my thread! I am so jazzed to hear from you! Can you give me an idea of your timeline? Also can you tell me what we do on my first consult? I attended the seminar about two weeks ago.

Thanks!

Well I went to my seminar the last week in Aug. saw Dr. DeSimone the 3rd week in Sep. has all my testing done in Oct. went back to them the last week in Oct and I had lost most of the 11 pounds they told me I need to loss. but to wait until I has my 2nd nutritionist appointment. Which was tue. that just passes and I saw them Wed. So I think mine when a lot faster then normal.

When is your first appointment?

My first appt is this Wednesday. I'm not sure what to expect. What did they do at your first appt? I attended the session at hospital on Nov. 9. What are the follow up appts you had?

Thanks!

for the first appointment its really not that big of deal. they weigh you get your height, blood pressure and then they ask you a lot of questions about your health and weight history.

I had to have blood work, ultrasound of my liver and gallbladder, EKG, stress test, sleep test that you do at home, upper GI kinds of test, PT visit, nutritionist, and the physiologist.

Thanks a lot for being so quick to respond, and sorry I have so many questions. How many appts in all were involved? I ask because I work full time. Also, at what point to they actually submit your insurance paperwork and schedule your surgery?

Thanks!

Trust me I understand I work full time also and have 2 young kids.

Cooper's office 3 times

all morning at the hospital (for most of the test to get done)

and a week after that I went to the hospital for a couple of hours for the nutritionist, and the physiologist.

and for me that was it. so for a couple of weeks it was busy trying to get all the appointments done but I tried to get a many done in one day as I could.
