You can do it! Sounds like you are on a 5 day pre-op diet?

I'm on day 9 of a 14 day pre-op liquid diet, and I am surviving. I have a Protein shake for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and calorie-free, decaf liquids the rest of the time. I won't lie, there have been some times when I have struggled, BUT I am determined to 1. not have a fatty liver 2. wake up from surgery with a band and 3. to do this right.

In the first week, I lost 17.4 lbs! It's so worth it when you see those kind of results.

I'd be happy to help you with how much and what to buy if you tell me your guidelines!

Good luck!

well starting 2day im on the 5day pre-op liquid diet so i dnt know what 2 buy. then after surgery i will b on Clear Liquids until idk??? i will have 2 ask my doctor when i cn b on mushy food. what do i buy now? what did u buy since ur on day 9 of ur diet?

I just had my LAP-BAND® surgery yesterday. I chose to go on a longer liquid diet, because I was not sure when I was to get the surgery and I wanted to make sure when I got the call that I was on my way and would not have to wait because of the liquid diet. I was on it for 4 weeks.

I bought the whey protein mix from Wal-mart. Make sure it has 20 grams of protein, and very little fat or carbs. It cost about $14.00 for a large container. I mixed strawberries with mine. I had 2 protein shakes a day, and 1 meal consisting of baked turkey or chicken breast. 1/2 apple sliced up and some greens. (spinach is the best).

I lost almost 20 lbs, and I did cheat 1 day. After a while I really did enjoy my little meal. I found that the taste of all the items together was good. I was never hungry. If I did get a little hungry, then I would eat a small amount of beef jerky (about 1/2 of a piece only). To play it safe, just take the small amount with you, but DO NOT TAKE THE WHOLE PACKAGE. From experience, it is easier if you do not see the package. Always eat very slow! And chew, chew, chew. Hope this will help you. In the end, it is worth it!!!

This is what I did, but you might want to check with your doctor first. I know the diet is to decrease the size of your liver. To keep it out of the way when the doctor does the LAP-BAND® surgery. Hope this helps some.

Did your doctor give you guidelines? It's best to follow those.

For example, mine were the 3 Protein shakes per day. Each shake had to have at least 20 grams of protein and no more than 3 grams of sugar. That's it.

Since I had to do 13 days of protein shakes (clear liquids only the day before surgery), I bought enough for 39 shakes. Knowing I needed more for the 2 weeks after surgery, I've since bought enough for those two weeks as well.

HTH,

Amy
