Last fill more than band can hold?

My last fill put the total fluid in my band more than the capacity? She said they do stretch. BUT, I am feeling NO restriction. I am about to schedule another fill but will it do any good? My insurance does NOT cover fills anymore so this is out of pocket.

HELP?!?

Which band do you have? I have the old Realize band that holds 9cc. I have in the neighborhood of 11cc in my band. My doctor does a special type fill, a "pressure fill" under fluoro with the Realize band. He hooks up a gauge to measure pressure as he's giving the fill. I think he only does those fill for people like me (and you) who are having trouble getting good restriction.

My last fill (the pressure fill) was 0.5cc, which, thankfully, gave me perfect restriction. He said he had a few other patients that needed as high as pressure as I had. It was in the 40s, but I don't know what that means, except that it was on the high side. I've kept my restriction now for three months.

I had my surgery in Mexico and the surgeon used the older generation 10cc Allergen band. This band only holds 4cc of saline.

I was really concerned when I first realized that I had the older style band but now I am very happy I do. I began losing weight immediately and with every fill I've had felt great restriction. I now have 2.98cc (after 3 fills).

I wonder if your surgeon used too large a band for you? It is hard to understand why soooo many people with the newer generation bands can't seem to get restriction with them.

I would be sure to question your doctor about this. Ask if it is possible that your band is just too large for you.

Best of luck,

Donna

I have a 7cc band and my surgeon said it would hold up to 8.5 cc's. So, you may have more room than you think.
