6 month Bandiversary YAY

Recommended Posts

YAY NOV is our 6 month anniversary for our lap bands. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread that everyone can post in Nov on their 6 month bandiversary. you can post how much you lost, how much more you want to loose, any ups and downs you have had, and anything else you would like to tell all your other may bandsters. I will post on the may 12. Can't wait to hear from everyone. :scared2:

Great thread idea! I'll post again on my 6 month 'Bandiversary' on Nov. 19th. I'm fluctuating a few lbs from 'One-derland' (Halloween candy did not help  - I'm getting it out of the house TODAY!). My short-term goal is to reach One-derland by the 6 month mark of starting my pre-op diet (May 5th - Nov. 5th). If I'm REALLY good and exercise well over the next two days, I could drop 3 lbs and be there - I'm going to give it my best!!!

Wow, 6 months already, how time flies when you are having a blast. Had a tiny fill today and the TR scale is 2lbs heavier than the one I use weekly. I am very, very happy with the weight I have lost already.

My 6 mo. will be the 15th. I had a 1/2 cc fill yesterday. I gained 4 lbs in 2 wks. Boo hoo. Halloween candy and other stuff didn't help. My surgeon gave me alot of food for thought yesterday. I had been eating alot of homemade Soup (good for you right). No it is not. He said it was the same thing as drinking while you are eating. Reasonable. I think that I have done well in 6 mos. Still have a long ways to go, but I will get there. I am pleased to see so many success stories for the mayo Banditos. Let's keep up the good work.

Thanks Ann, I wish I was doing as well as you but I'll take a loss anytime. Had to have a slight unfill so I'm hoping I can get back on track.

Thanks again:)

Don't worry, you'll get back on track! I had an unfill after a bad stuck episode, and I only lost one pound in 4 weeks. That was disappointing. But now that I've gotten re-filled, I'm back on track again. The same will happen for you!:scared2:

Before surgery 229, and as of today I am down 43 lbs. 186

Ist week after surgery... down 13 lbs

First Fill 7/2 2.5 cc's no restriction 2 lbs down

Second Fill 8/3 2.5 cc's no restriction 2 lbs down

Third Fill 8/31 1.5 cc's finally fill like I have restriction

I have not had a fill since, I went in for a check up and decided not to get a fill because things would get stuck every now and then and I didn't want to temp fate and get to tight. I lost my first 10 lbs that month with my 3rd fill.

I was going to go in for a fill last week but was sick so i rescheduled my appointment, they wanted to schedule it for 2 days before thanksgiving but I decided that I would wait another week and do it after Thanksgiving. I still can't over eat so I think I will be fine. I am down 22 lbs since my last fill at the end of August. I feel like that is when my real journey began, and keep reminding myself that.

Some people had restriction right after surgery and then others like me it took awhile to get there so try to remember that when comparing your self to others...that is what keeps me from getting to down at my 6 month bandiversary.

Here are some other stats

Bust went from 46.5 to 43"

Waist 42.75 to 39"

Hips 51.25 to 47

Thighs 49.5 to 46

Bicep 14 to 13.24

I was in a size 20/22 and am now wearing a size 16

This is the smallest I have been in 12 years and I feel great.

Wow, Tammy, that's fantastic!!! :cursing: Your stats are awesome!:) And you are so right, for some people, things don't really start rolling until you finally get some restriction.

My 6-month anniversary is tomorrow (the 7th), and as of today, I've lost 80 lbs. I'm really happy with that! I haven't taken my measurements since I was at the 50-lb. mark, so I'll have to do that this weekend.

Happy anniversary to us all!

So today's my "big" day, and I took my measurements for the first time since 50 lbs. lost, and I have lost a total of 35.75 inches! I cannot -- cannot -- believe it.

I love the band --- and the lifestyle changes I've made! :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
