December Bandsters 2009

Recommended Posts

It has been forever since I have checked in. I am now on day 7 of my liquid diet and I am down 18 pounds. I had no idea I could lose that much weight that fast. I have surgery in one week and I am so ready. This weight loss definitely has me motivated!!

I am so not looking forward to all the Christmas goodies that will be staring at my as we visit family this holiday season. But so far I have made some goodies around here and haven't even had 1 bite of it.

motomom - good luck. I couldn't imagine pumping and dumping. When I started this journey my little one was 6 months old and only breastfed. I was so paranoid of being banded and bf'ing. I even made a post about it. Luckily it is very doable!

Hi all!!

I'm new to the forum.

I started my journey in July and my surgery date is set for the 22nd of this month!!:scared2:

Yesterday was my first day of the liquid diet. I noticed everyone is pretty much able to eat a little something or the liquid diet isn't that strict. Can I just say that I'm really jealous! My surgery is really really really strict. For 2 weeks it's Clear Liquids only, besides the Protein Shakes. So I only get to have shakes, broth, Jello & SF pops. That's it. No SF gum, because of the sugar alcohol. Ah well, it's worth it. I do have to say, I"M STARVING! LOL! Is that bad? It's only been a day and a half. I'm worried I'm going to bite my families head off and kabob them.

Did you/are you all dropping weight really really fast in the liquid diet? I've dropped 5 lbs. since yesterday. That's not right. It must be all Water because I've been in the restroom every half hour. Crazy! My spouse doesn't believe me, it's that crazy!

Good luck to everyone getting their surgery today! I'm excited to get to know everyone.

I feel your pain. I just completed day 2. I have been drinking my last shake and Soup and going to bed to avoid killing my family for food.

I wish I could make it 30 minutes between trips to the restroom. It feels like every 5 minutes for me. I haven't gotten on the scale so I don't know how much if any weight I have lost.

Sweet Pete and Big Momma,

I so feel your pain. Today is day 3 of the pre op diet for me and I can only have the broth, Jello, SF pops and SF pudding or low fat yogurt. It is really hard. Last night I dreamed out eating. Not sure if that is normal, but I did. Woke up with the worst dry mouth ever. Drinking a lot, but running to the bathroom a lot, too. Hang in there, I just keep telling myself it is worth it!!!!

So I went to my nutrition class last night, got the pre-op diet and the post op diets... and let me just say, if ANYONE ever tells me I'm taking the easy way out to weight loss? I will smack them in the head with my pureed fruit soaked baby spoon!! This is going to be the hardest thing I've ever done but I am ready for it. 9 more days, could it get here any quicker?

Wow I see a lot of things on this forum that hits home. I guess you have to walk in our collective shoes to understand.

Cawells you hit on something. It is the reason I have chosen not to tell anyone my plans. Not coworkers or family because it is a case of NONYA!! I only told my wife reluctantly because that would be difficult to pull off even though telling her anything is like taking out a Super Bowl commercial. I don't need anyone's opinion, advice, or whispers that oh he took the easy way out. We all know that is doo doo. If anyone asks how or even why I lost weight I get to use one of my numerous smart a** answers and that is the end of it. Like I don't know ever since I was with that skinny ho with all the sores I've really been dropping the pounds. If I am felling even a little bit serious, which is rare, I say I switched to eating healthy stuff, oh yeah and smoking the crack makes it easier. Sorry couldn't resist.

I almost forgot brothers and sisters of the band. This December forum is very nice and I would like to stay in touch to follow our progress every step of the way from now on. This is the only place in my uptight life that I can share, listen, and learn. I am not very tech oriented but is there any way to do this like through a group e-mail or forum? I am actually looking further down the road to this time next year where we can have a cyber reunion.

Sluggo - fortunately, I havent had anyone be negative to me as of yet and I've told quite a few people. I'm not ashamed that I am taking control of my life and everyone I have told are genuinely happy for me... but God help that one person that ever says anything against my decision... a chocolate Protein Shake in the face is what they will encounter!

Cawlls that is funny. I can just hear the news. The suspect opened the proverbial can of whupass in the form of a Protein Drink and proceeded to pummel the victim into tears. You are lucky to have a good support system. I am envious. Its not that I think someone will be ugly to my face but I know how some, not everbody, but a few, people are and I'd rather they be excluded from my business. I have been on the other side of the conversations that went something like, "Didja see Susan, she's lost so much weight, how did she do it? Oh she had THE surgery...oh that explains it." The attitude is that we have somehow taking an easy short cut. In my case let them speculate. I guess I know and am related to the wrong folks. Story of my life. I think I will run away and be a Carny where no one knows me.

If you go into the social section you'll see groups, there's a group for us there December Bandsters 2009 with a Christmas tree.

For those you that haven't joined please do. And there's also a Dec 2009 forum in the post-op board. Those resources will help us keep in touch along our journey.

Also if you're clicking with someone send a friend request to them, by going to their profile and clicking on "befriend"

Hope that helps!

Happy Banding!

Yvette

I'm finally coherent enough to post since surgery yesterday. Surgery went great, of course according to my surgeon he fixed the biggest hital hernia he has ever seen on me. I was sick all day and night from being put to sleep but feeling better now. Really sore but nothing I can't handle. My mom is staying with me for a few days and the plan is to go for a nice walk this afternoon so maybe I will get rid of some of the stiffness. I have been trying to get up about once an hour and walk around the house but feel super drained so that is hard. Hope everyone is doing ok that was banded yesterday.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
