Just Banded and I need help!

Recommended Posts

I just had my surgery on Friday and I don't what to do about the bloating and also about passing a bowel movement. Can I take something for that or do I just wait for it to come naturally? Please help,if anyone has some suggestions,

Thanks!

Vanessa

As always call your doctor for real medical questions. That said, Welcome to Bandlandia!

I believe you are just goingto have to walk and wait for the bloating to subside. One of the side effects of being pumped full like a balloon.

They make over the counter stool softeners to help. I would think that a harsh laxative would be a bad thing. Soon enough you will likely have diarea, but not to worry. liquids in, liquids out

Rather than going from the top, down so newly banded, try going from the bottom, up? If I could do it again, I'd have glycerin suppositories on hand. They are basically inert and don't come anywhere near your band and are very very helpful with Constipation. and once you go? oh yeah baby. You will feel new again. Try it? And call your doc.

Also, chew a Gas-X tablet for the tummy gas. A heating pad for the surgery gas that might be settling in your shoulders. I even put the heating pad across my tummy on low for a bit. It felt nice.

Good luck. Oh, and Congrats!!!

See if prune juice is on the list of allowed juices. That should help :P

I wouldn't worry about the bowel movement much, it's a liquid phaze so nothing there to poop really. I think the reason why they have you go on 'clear' liquids is because they dont want your stomach to work much during the healing time.

Call the nurse at your doctors office and ask though.

I tried calling my doctor's officce today, but I forgot they weren't there because of the holiday. I'll call them tomorrow, but Thanks, so much for all of your input. I'll try that gas x staff and see if I feel better.

Thanks,

Vanessa

The bloating will get better daily! As for the BM - that was AWFUL for me - I had to give myself an enema 3 days out of surgery!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
