Hey there. I'm planning on getting banded on October 8th at Strax (anyone else go there?) in South Florida. I have my pre-op tomorrow with the surgeon, and thanks to all you awesome people I have a list of questions for him. This board has been very helpful, so thank you.

Anyways, the reason for the thread is to ask... Does anyone regret their decision to get banded? Is there anything you wish you had known before you went through with it? And anyone have any questions I should add to my list for the surgeon?

Thanks again. I'm glad I found this place.

-Summer

My only regret is not doing this sooner. As far as questions, be sure you are VERY clear on what is expected of you during your pre and post op diet. It is important that you stick to both, so you need to know exactly what to do.

I have no regrets, it's one of the best things I have every done. I wish that I would of had it done sooner. I have struggled with my weight for a very long time. I have about 70 lbs to lose, and I have lost about 23. It's amazing how the band works. I don't even realize that I have it around my stomach. You will be fine, and I bet you will love having the surgery. One thing to keep in mind is make sure that you follow exactly what your surgeon directs you to do, your outcome will be much better if you follow their advise. Good luck to you !!!

I am close to 4 weeks out and so far no regrets at all!! I also wish I would have done it sooner as others have said.

I think like most things the anticipation is so much more than the actual process. The first couple of days of the pre-op diet were tough but after that, smooth sailing! After the surgery, as others told me, was a breeze because the hunger isn't there. Although now, as I approach my first fill I feel I am in "bandster hell".. I can eat just about anything, but, atleast I know I am going through a normal phase in the process just like everyone else!

The time will come up quick.. congratulations on your surgery date and moving forward.

Enjoy the journey !

No regrets at all, except that I didn't get it done sooner.

Hope you feel the same, looking forward to hearing about your progress. Good luck! Joanie )

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
