Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I have an appointment Oct. 20th with my doctor and I will get my surgery date on that day. I was told by the office staff that it should be about two weeks from when I meet with him. Which means I will be a November 2009 Bandster. Anyone else out there yet with a prospective November surgery date? What are you going to do to kill time so you don't get too excited and jump out of your skin like I feel like I might!

Hello.....I posted this same question a few days ago. Nice to see I'm not the only one! Nov. 5th is my Big Day! This has been nothing but a waiting process for me, soooo, I finally have a light at the end of my tunnel. It's made me buckle down even harder. Best of luck to you, keep me updated so we can share this adventure...Sue

Hi there :w00t: If everything goes according to plan..I will be banded in November!!!!

I just have to do one more test and once thats completed, my documents will be submitted for insurance approval. My insurance has to respond in 24-48 hours. I also told my surgeon that I have to have it done before end of November because year end at my work lasts from December to March and nobody is allowed to take off unless you are on your deathbed and even then..they will make you work from home lol. they said that most likely i will have the surgery in November so i don't have to deal with my demanding job and recovery.

Hello Sue and Stacy. Nice to meet you both.

Stacy, I know what you mean about work. I am in nursing school and can't really afford to miss too much class. Atleast this semester I am already done with clinical rotation so I dont have to worry about that. They wont start up again till January and I should be OK by then, thinner too!!! I can't believe I just used the words thinner to possibly describe myself. Seems like a dream!

Sue, I feel ya on the long waiting process. We moved from Washington to Alabama half way through the process and I had to start all over. Well lets just use the good old saying, good things come to those who wait!! Keep my posted!

Hey Guys

That totally sucks abut starting over. Granted - this process is kind of going fast for me but I think I would probably scream because I had to pay cash for nut and psych appoitments. So i am so glad that you already have set dates for November - its right around the corner.

So what have you all being doing in preparation?

Well, I am required by my doctor to do a 4 week liver shrinking diet, so I will be starting that soon. I am still not sure exactly what day in Nov. my surgury will be so I am planning on starting the diet Oct. 1st just to be on the safe side. Besides that, I am a nursing student so that keeps me busy studying all the time, and I have two small children also. What about you guys? Any thought yet on what your last yummy meal might be?

Good morning November Bandsters! I'm so glad to meet all of you, everyone is so focused on being successful. Thank you for your inspiration, I am really fired up today:biggrin:.

As soon as I had my orientation, I started being more aware of portions and my choices. I have taken it very slow. Smaller portions when I filled my plate (not every time though) cutting down on carbonated beverages ( that was actually not TOO hard, because I was not a BIG pop drinker, maybe 2 a day) and drinking more Water.

I started Sit and be fit (still haven't made that regularly) started reading, still reading and joined this site. This site is one of the best things I have done! I have lost 23 lbs since April:smile:.

At this point I can say I have conquered carbonated beverages ( I still think about it, but can now say, "I don't drink that anymore").

I'm starting to measure SOME of my portions lol, and have joined Calorie Count. They have great recipes and you can save the one's you like.

I also use Free Meal Planner from About.com, which is a great feature for me.

Sorry this has turned into more of a blog.......I guess I tend to share a lot, I'm like a glass house lol.

Blessings,

Sue

Sue, great idea about stopping drinking soda now. I am actually drinking much less soda now just because it upsets my stomach now - but once in a while I just get this craving for something bubbly. I am going on a girls vacation to California next week for 7 days so I decided to enjoy the vacation, enjoy the food, enjoy the drinks but the second I land...its strict healthy eating. during the trip - I will work on Water intake and I will substitute one meal with a Protein Shake however for dinners - I will enjoy all the wonderful foods especially the fish tacos. yum.

My doctor hasn't said anything about the liver shrinking diet as of yet, but I thought i would give it a headstart as of 9/23/09.

Stacy...... What fun you will have. I haven't had a girls vacation since June, I'm jealous lol. Thank you for your comment about soda, see we are helping each other. Everytime I visit this site I am inspired! How nice to have friends who are going through the same adventure, to support and encourage one another. I would like to add you to my friends list so we can stay in touch. In fact I think I'll ask all of the November Bandsters to be on my friends list.

Where are you going in California? If I don't talk to you again before you leave, " Have a GREAT time!".

Blessings,

Sue

Hi there. This is my first post so I'll introduce myself while I'm at it.

My name is Tammy and I'm 33 years old. I've struggled with my weight all my life. I've considered WLS for years, but after having my first child last December, I've put on even more weight. I contacted Dr. Bovard in Raleigh, NC in September.

This has all happened very quickly. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 12!

Good Morning November Bandsters!! We're getting CLOSER, and I'm getting more anxious. Welcome to the site Tammy, you will find we are all on the same journey. I just had my pre-op appointment, and I was given several samples of Protein Drinks. My favorite is Unjury(YUM), hands down! I have already placed, and recieved my order. You have to order online at www.unjury.com but it is easy, and it was here in 2 days! They sell individual packets, so you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

My weight loss has just stopped, I teeter back and forth 2-3 lbs. I must say I'm dissappointed, maybe I just need to try harder. My problem is I'm disabled because I need hip replacement, and I can't have that until I loose more weight. Anyone have ideas?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
