Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Stuck at 267, thats ok for now. Back to PBing when I'm a naughty bandster.. and happy about it hah hah, haven't had a PB since Dec of last year before my band broke.

I'm eating normal. Dry chicken is a no go, tortillas and queso YES. Hah.

Carson is teething something horrible.. reminds me of Judy saying Grady would just cry and cry.

Carson has spent the past 2 days wailing in my arms, no matter what I do, he's not happy. Cries cries cries, nothing helps. Not sleeping good either suddenly. We finally got him sleeping through the night a few weeks ago, and now he's up every 30m just crying, in pain. I feel a little tooth bud in the bottom, it needs to come on!!!!!!!!

So that's what I've been up to.

Thanks for the compliments on Mr. Dylan, he is a cutie....but so are Carson and Grady, and Ethan....Michelle, I have a question, how would one get into the editing/proofreading? biz such as you.??... I haven't heard back from the Weight Watchers lady...I need to do something here quick....heading into winter and the thought of being stuck in the house is making me nutz! The ex-husband of some old friends of ours passed away, we have the wake to go to Friday....haven't seen them in years, but was thinking of him a while back....I guess he had been estranged from one of his kids for 10 years...weird....anyways, where is Suzanne or Kat lately?? and Terri...?

Ok, gonna go watch news or Yankees...

Good morning, Violets...

Laura.. teething is the pits! Did you get some ambusol to put on his gums?? And give him some Tylenol. This too shall pass. Grady has 4 teeth now and another one trying to come in. Those teeth sure throw everything out of whack.

I'm up and waiting for Ethan to arrive for the day. Then I have Zumba and a flute rehearsal tonight. I'm going to have my brace on my knee and try and take it easy.

Ethan just walked in so I have to scoot.. bbl...

Hey girls~

Laura...you know my answer for teething...WILD TURKEY! Seriously that is what grandma (a RN) did...just rub it on the gums! I didn't turn out too bad:wink:.

Well ladies...two words: food POISONING! From my own kitchen. I have been beyond sick all night! Ate my wonderful pot roast, heated it very well...and it was great; going in! Coming out...not so much:frown:. Both directions...waaahhhh!

Here is the kicker...I have a meeting today at the district office. I hope to be able to make it through the day. I finally took imodium but still going to the bathroom...and soooo sick in my tummy! Ending up sleeping on the couch so I didn't bother Sus. uuuggg

Have a great day!

xoxo

What a day you had, Pam... poor dear. I hope you make it through the meeting, & then can come home & zonk out on the couch.

Laura, sorry to read about Carson's teething... do kids today still use those frozen icy teething rings? My kids loved those. In an odd way I'm happy to read that you're pb'ing -- it means your band is working! Yay!

Janie, I hope Glee is back next week now that the stupid World Series is over (now if the Phillies had won, I wouldn't have called it "stupid"!

It's a grey, quiet day here... all alone & loving it... working & sipping tea...

Make it a great day, everyone!

Good morning!!

Mae, Kat and Suzanne moved to another thread, and Terri, I think she just doesn't post. Had a lot going on with her family and probably didn't need more drama?

Pam, Sorry to hear of your concerns, it sure is a different world than when I was in 6th grade!! Michelle is right, it is a terrible situation, but kudos to you for caring!!! Hang in there!!!!!!!

Haydee I went to the cake site, wow, he really does a lot of great cakes!! I have watched some tv shows about cake decorating and it looks so time consuming. That is something I don't have the patience for. About 15 years ago my next door neighbors were having some bad problems, she wanted to make a cake for her little girl. I said that I have watched the girl at work make some cakes, it looks easy, I will borrow her stuff. Oh my gosh we were up til four in the morning making cakes, her husband would come out everyonce in a while and just shake his head!! The cake turned out nice, but it took us about probably 6 or 7 batches of icing, cause we kept messing it up!!

Wow that was a long post for a stupid subject!!

Snow???????? Oh My Gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laura, I have heard the whiskey on gums of babies! I hope you get some relief soon!!!

Okay, have a great day everyone!!!!!!!

Back again.. just finished making chicken gnocchi Soup in the pressure cooker. Perfect for this snowy, Fall day.

Janie... I've been meaning to tell you, I'm STILL using the White Cranberry/Peach drinks I bought when you gave me the coupons back before the Texas meet up. Can you believe it?? I haven't bought a box since then and I still have 3 boxes left. I don't know what I'll do when I have to go back to actually buying the stuff again..

Off to ladle out the soup. yums...

Enjoy the afternoon, everyone!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Joe just picked up Ethan and now for some quiet time for Gramma before I leave for Zumba and flute rehearsal. The Bobster raked the leaves in the front yard. They are soaking wet so we can't burn them, but hopefully by the weekend we'll be leaf free.

I have all the ingredients ready to make Peachy Keen chicken in the pressure cooker. The leftover Soup will be for lunches tomorrow and Saturday.

We are going to work on filling the dumpster up this weekend. We have all day Saturday to work and Sunday afternoon. Bob preaches at a Presbyterian church on Sunday. They will be listening to see if they want to hire him for an interim position. I'm hoping he gets it, but whatever will be, will be and we're ok with that.

Off to straighten up things before I get supper ready and then leave...

Will check in after Zumba if I survive..

Well, I survived. I did 45 minutes and that's my limit. When they start really getting into all the jumps and hip hopping, I bow out gracefully. Then I wait till they get to the end and do the cool down exercises. It's a great workout and I do enjoy it. Hope I can continue.

Off to watch CSI and then Project Runway. Everyone have a great evening. sleep well!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
