Lisa,

Thanks so much for posting your recipes! I can't wait to try them. Even though I don't post my food log each day, I do read the posts here - very inspiring! :wink2:

God bless!

Hi everyone!

Today-

B: vanilla Protein shake with bananas and strawberries

L: half a meatball with 8 garlic pita chips

D: third cup of chicken salad with 3 club crackers, 1 cube of cantaloupe

Had a meeting today, there was lots of food. Sandwiches, chips, etc. I wasn't even tempted. Everyone kept apologizing for eating in front of me but it honestly doesn't bother me.

On another note, my chocolate Protein came today from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. YAY! I missed not having the chocolate. It's my favorite. I have an appointment with a trainer at my gym tomorrow at 10am. Looking forward to it. <---- putting that down so when I am complaining how sore I am, I can remember I was excited for it! :)

Hi everyone! Happy weekend!

Today-

B: chocolate Protein shake with pb and banana

L: a third cup chicken salad, about 6 diced pears

D: half a meatball with roasted cauliflower

water- actually did really well today with water!

exercise- appt with the trainer today- did 1 hour of weight training and then 15 minutes on the elliptical

Had to nap when I got home! I got my flu shot yesterday. I forgot when I got it last year, I felt the same way. Just very sluggish and blah. Probably bad timing with the flu shot and scheduling the trainer. Should have thought that through a little better, I think! Oh well, it's done. I am sure I will feel better tomorrow!

Oh and about my trainer appointment. I haven't seen the trainers since before the gym opened. I signed up while they were under construction and signing people up in the trailer on the property. So my measurements were taken a year ago. I weighed 230 then. (I got heavier after that!) So by that, I have lost 38 lbs, 4 inches in each thigh! And wait for this one.... 5.5 inches in my waist! I think measurements are going to be fun now! LOL!

Hello all...

Today-

B: a third cup of chicken salad- wasn't in the mood for Breakfast foods

L: 1 square of thin crust pizza (cheese) with a blackberry carbmaster yogurt

D: half a panko breaded tilapia fillet (baked) and 5 baked sweet potato fries

Today is my 3 month bandiversary. My husband took my 3 month picture.

wow... VERY sore today! My arms and chest were incredibly sore. Plus, I have a HUGE bruise from my flu shot. I felt like I wasn't in control of my muscles today.. it was kind of funny. Definately made cleaning my house a challenge!

Oh, I bought the new Biggest Loser Wii game with both Bob and Jillian. My plan is to try it out tomorrow. It is supposed to work with the balance board. I am excited because it has some yoga in it. I have terrible balance. I really want to work on that.

Hi everyone...

Today-

B: Protein shake with pb and banana

L: half a meatball, half a parmesan crisp

D: wasn't really hungry so I had another Protein Shake (same as breakfast)

Exercise: 15 minutes of Biggest Loser Wii and 25 minutes glider

Water: not even close

I have a couple of observations. First, I realized I want to plan things now. I told my kids today that we will plant a garden in Feb. I was so exhausted before from being morbidly obese (being diabetic without controlling it didn't help either!) I didn't even think about doing anything physical. Now I am planning things! That is sort of cool.

The other thing is... my husband joined the gym!

I had this surgery as much for him as for myself. He is very heavy- BMI 37.5. It is all belly fat. And he smokes. I always felt I couldn't say anything about his health if I wasn't doing anything about mine. And I always felt if only I could get control of myself, he would follow suit. Well, he is! I haven't said a word to him... he is so stubborn, it would be counterproductive, he has done it entirely on his own. I am so happy!

Hi everyone...

Today-

B: Protein shake with pb and banana

L: boston market frozen entree- meat loaf and mashed potatoes with gravy. I had a third of it. It was yummy!

D: half a meatball

dessert- made homemade ice cream with ricotta cheese... VERY delicious... but NOT a low cal/low fat/low sugar food. I put one scoop on a cone- didn't finish cone.

I am sure my calorie count was up there. That ice cream was pretty decadent. I don't feel bad about it... it was planned. I enjoyed it and now it's gone.

Gotta go pack my gym bag for tomorrow!

Hi everyone... haven't posted, everything is ok. I have just been very busy and a little bummed. Nothing band related, just life in general!

I have been eating my normal stuff, Protein shake for Breakfast, turkey chili for lunch etc... so I won't bore you with the days I missed

Today-

B: strawberry banana carbmaster yogurt and a third of a banana

L: about 2/3 cup of turkey chili with cheese

D: half a meatball with parmesan crisp

S: 4 toasted coconut cashews

water: bad bad bad today!

I did have a bit of a NSV today. We had ice cream sundaes in the break room today for a safety celebration. I decided I could have a tiny bit after my lunch today. By the time lunch came around, I wasn't really in the mood for it. In the past, I would have had some 'just because I could' and it wouldn't matter if I didn't really want it. So I thought that was pretty cool progress. :scared2:

It isn't official until tomorrow but I have lost 50 lbs!!!

I am pretty excited about that... seems like a pretty good milestone!

Today:

B: blackberry carbmaster yogurt with half a tiny banana

L: seriously don't remember eating lunch today... humph

D: about a tablespoon of each- roasted chicken, roasted butternut squash, a wedge of roasted potato, 3 roasted baby carrots, and homemade stuffing (with apples, pecans, raisins, sausage, celery, onion etc)

Looking at my menu in black and white here I am a little concerned about my Protein intake today. Must do better tomorrow.

Hi everyone! I have had a bad couple of days, food-wise. Funny thing, though, is I really haven't eaten much! Sort of reverse of what I used to do!

Friday:

B: half a Protein shake

L: nope

D: half cup turkey chili but didnt even finish it.

Today:

B: nope

L: nope

S: cooked up a storm today so I picked on that stuff... it was all veggies

D: half a baked panko breaded tilapia fillet and four pieces of diced peaches

Not sure where my appetite has been. My band feels very tight and I am having trouble going to the bathroom. That is two more reasons to get on the program with my WATER!!!! I just don't know why I struggle so much with the dang Water. :blushing:

On a positive note, I have learned this week that I need good food choices ready to go in the fridge. If I have to cook when I am actually ready to eat, I choose not to eat.

So today I cooked:

-big pot of meatballs

-large batch of chicken salad

-roasted sweet potatoes with apples

-roasted butternut squash

-roasted cauliflower

-broccoli salad

Lots of yummy choices, just heat and eat!

Hi everyone...

Today

B: usual Protein shake

L: tiny bit of homemade stuffing with a bit of chopped up chicken- browned this up in a pan and put a little gravy on it. The whole thing was about a third cup. I also had 4 roasted carrots and I wedge of roasted potato

D: half a meatball and parmesan crisp

On another note, both my boys are sick. Flu-ish. Fever, sneezing, coughing. Yuck.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
