Hope you folks don't mind me wanting to join up. I have not got quiet as much zeal as some of you :smile2:, but I do want to get moving and be accountable and encouraged. Best wishes to all.

I need to see a full week's miles to know if I'm staying on track for my weekly goals to meet my month's goals, so I'm not going to post my miles until Monday (September started on Tuesday).

My favorite song to listen to on my ipod when I'm doing my miles is the theme song to the first Rocky movie..."it's so hard now...getting strong now...gonna fly now...fly, fly, FLY!" I know I'm showing my age! LOL! What song inspires you when you're doing your miles (I might want to download it, too)?

Hi Willowcat. I love to listen to a song by, Third Day. It is called Born Again.

Feels like I'm born again. Feels like I'm living...for the very first time...for the very first time. Feels like I'm breathing...feels like I'm moving...for the very first time in my life.

I can go for miles and miles when I listen to that song.

Thanks for sharing. I wondered if anyone else listened to music when exercising. Without music it seems to take forever to meet my daily goal.

Miles are 9 for this partial week;

66 miles to go.

Music. I have to have music. I have so many favorites. I have over 100 on my "aerobic playlist". Let's see here are a few.

1.Sweet Escape (i can cover alot of ground with this one)

2.Big Girls Don't Cry...Fergie

3.Can't stop this thing we started...Bryan Adams

4.Twist n Shout...Beatles

5.Crash and Burn...Savage Garden

6.Everything is Fine....Josh Turner

7.I'm yours....Jason Mraz

8.Party, my house, be there...MxPx

9.Rock n' Roll and Pensacola...Joshua Stevens

10.This is my now....Jordon Sparks

Also a few spiritual ones:

1.Lamb of God...Twila Paris

2.Don't be overcome.....AVB

3.Center of your will....Twila Paris

4.Days of Elijah....Twila Paris

5.Here I am to worship.....Tim Hughes

I listen to my radio at my desk at work. I keep a list going on my iPhone of great songs to download to add to my workout list.

I have this thing called a Radio Shark that records in excellent quality songs from the radio and then I can cut and turn into mp3 to add to my iPod.

Great question Willow.

Rayne - Glad to see another early bird joining our ranks! It's hard for me to get going in the morning but once out of bed ... it really does start my day off energized! 80 mile goal... what method are you doing? I'll be thinking about you in the mornings as I walk. Glad you joined.

Now for my goal this month: Since what got me to this point is just one step farther than the day before...I'm going to try to keep this up. Soooooo...

Walking 54 miles

Biking 25 miles

Total 79 miles

My miles this short week: 8 m walk/6 m bike total 14m

Miles to go: 46/19 Total 65 miles

Good Luck everyone! Welcome all newcomers...there is strength in numbers! I'm excited that you're here!

Oops, the first paragraph in the quote was from Rayne...I thought I was quoting but I just cut/paste and it didn't show up as a quote....Be patient my tech knowledge is not good....notice no tickers! But I keep trying! Now to continue trying to reach my goal I'm signing off and going to go bike awhile....rained all day, so no walking today.

Keep moving, Deb

Hi all well I was under the weather this week but I did 3.5 on cross ramp that's what I call it but don't know the name lol. Hoping for a better week last week. But I'm new to the gym so that's better than no miles

Olivia you have the right attitude. 3.5 miles is a good start. We have not completed a full week yet. Any amount is better than none. The goal is to get moving and you have already made the leap.

Hope you feel better soon.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
