Recommended Posts

You know, many of you have been talking to me, mainly these past 4 days. Ok this feeling in my throat/top of my chest is really driving me nuts! That feeling isn't pleasant and I'm getting annoyed cause it'll go away and come right back I'm trying my best but I have to feel this way for another week, I'm going to be seeing my dr next week and it's going to suck cause I planned going clothes shopping this weekend for school and it's the only time I can go, I was so excited and I didn't plan on getting whatever I got the nurse never said anything about reflux but she said I might have a narrowing like whatever that is. I feeling like I'm being punished by not being able to go anywhere or see anyone cause of feeling like crap in my throat like what the heck! I'm getting driving crazy and I don't have much of an appetite cause of it too rawr! Mother of pearl this sucks can you just talk to me on here instead of my other threads? Thanks and sorry I post so many threads

you need to relax! & quit serial posting.....i say this with much kindness & joking - but really??

stress can really add to your band problems, so can your time of the month - if that's probable.

i'm surprised you can't get into your dr right away - i've not heard of narrowing .... but if it's a problem there "should" be backup covering for your dr.

if it's that misearble - and i haven't opened up every one of your threads ... just SHOW up to your dr's office. you can shrug someone off the phone, hard to do in your waiting rm w/other patients seeing your discomfort / dissatisfaction.

i had a rough 3 wks myself - i questioned what the hell i did to myself ;;; still have port discomfort when i do too many core exercises or if the moon is full. it gets better, try to ease up on yourself a bit.!.

see - i posted here.

I ate a salad with grilled chicken for lunch yesterday and had a stuck episode but I did not vomit and waited for it to pass. It never passed. Long and short of it, I struggled to eat dinner and finally vomited 7 times and whatever was stuck from lunch finally came up. I try not to vomit because I don't want my band to slip but sometimes you just have to get that stuck sucker out.

I'm not sure what you had get stuck but try the papaya enzyme. If you are able to still drink Water and not have it back up on you then you probably don't have anything stuck. I couldn't even drink after lunch yesterday and after trying to eat dinner I thought what the hell was I thinking even trying to eat.

I know I know, I can't help it, I just wanna talk to somebody, I'm trying to relax, but don't seem to know how, I guess having my cat near my eases my mind a bit... This is my last thread for awhile.

I already had my time of month two weeks ago and I just got my depo shot on the 17th I was feeling great then.

Yeah I might be stressed too but I also don't know how to relieve stress either

My dr is on vacation, they were trying to get me in with the other surgeron but I guess they couldn't and there's only two lapband surgerons at the hospital.

I know right?

I'm sure you can find it in a drug store or health food store. Not sure exactly what it is or how it works but I've read that it works for some people.

Erin, get away from your computer and go for a long walk.

Hi Erin,

I think we got banded about the same time...I was Aug 4th. My surgeon put 5cc in a 10 cc band during the surgery. Over the first few days I felt my band get tighter. I had a constanst pressure in the center of my chest around the band area that pulled from my back. I could not eat. I didnt want to eat ( I mean drink) even Water was difficult. I had to burp but couldnt. Anyway on post op day five I went to surgeons office and the Phician Assisstant took 3cc out of my band....I am much better. If your band is too tight...which it might be...you need to get some Fluid out of it. Having the band too tight is not good and can cause some serious side efects. Call your Dr office and be persistant. I am in health care and its ok to be persistant. Take care of yourself..please.

They need to see you ASAP.

I was banded a few days before. I think that's just it, that it's too tight, get tight all of a sudden though? I called today, the surgerons and most of the other dr's in the bariatric office are on vacation too I mean come on there has to be someone. One time when I was 7 days post op I went and saw him cause of nausea and had me proove to him that I could get Water down, so since I could, he didn't want to take the Fluid out and then I didn't have this weird feeling in my throat/top of my chest then. My only prob then was nausea. So now that I have the throat feeling he's probably/most likely going to have to take the fluid out and I hope he does, I'll probably be a much happier camper again. Sucky part is I have to wait to see him

I know my surgeon wanted to be the first to acces my port....but you need to be seen...call again and insist to be seen tomorrow...ask teh person who in the office is responsible to handle band emergencies..becuase there should be someone....insist to seen..and ask them for a better plan. Please

Every medical personell in that position requires that they have a person covering for them for just that.

Stop the crazing posting... For real. Sheesh. Go get an unfil and be done with it.

I didn't look them all up but if you're apologizing and Lu's mentioning it.. Girl you're over the limit.

Ya, stress messes with your band.

I know for me, if I'm stressed I can't eat.

Today for lunch - I was pissy at DH for something and looked at my salad like, "Ah, man. I can't eat you. I want you. But, I'm too friggen pissed."

Time of month, a sneeze, a jerk driver, too early in the morning - anything at all can make me too tight.

Seriously, just chill. Take small bites, chew well and if it's that painful and unbearable, go to the doctor. But, when you do go, have a clear and concise description of what it is you are feeling. Write it down if you have to, but be able to explain coherently what is wrong.

Erin - Maybe you can find someone to talk to @ a support group - I'm 14 months out & love group! Remember - restriction is not always pleasant - but it's what you wanted when you opt'd for the band. You have to relax, give your body time to heal and let the band work for you.

The band's not a magic pill - but it will work for you if you allow it to do it's thing.

Good luck

I purchased some online @ Vitamin World in chewable tablet form. Have not really had much of the need for them yet, though.

Walmart carry papaya enzyme. As for tight feeling, I had it too for 4 weeks after surgery due to the fill they gave me at surgery. After about a month, everything is good. My doctor told me though, if I think it is way too much, he will get some fill out.

Do they have an on call doctor that can help you? What have you been eating btw?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
