It all depends, the amount of fills it takes is different with everyone. I had restriction after the 1st fill, but it went away after a month, (fat between the band and stomach made it loosen up). Since i have had 3 more fills and am finally feeling restriction again, but not quite enough yet. I suspect 1 more fill (that is a total of 5) will get me there. Hang in there, it is a process and it takes time.

I have had one 3cc fill so far. I don't feel restriction or don't get that "full" feeling after I have eaten, but I eat my 1/2 c at a meal and that's it until snack if I can't make it until the next meal. I wait at least 3-4 hrs between meals. Some days it's easier then others. Maybe my next fill will help, but the dr. put 4cc's in and I could not get Water down so he took 1cc out so not sure how the next fill will be!

I really don't know if i will get my second fill. thought every month according to my book they gave me i should get a fill but my doctor said last month if i feel full then he wouldn't feel me so i don't know what to tell him this month cause i have been out of whack since last month , it like thru me for a loop. but i am suppose to go back to the doctor on the 28 th and don't know if he will do a fillor not i will need to gadge it closer and see what happens in the next 2 weeks and see if i need a fill.

Everybody is different and it seems that all doctors have different philosophies. It took me 6 fills before I felt like I was really at my "sweet spot". The first few fills were tough I could still eat more than I felt I should be eating.

If you are following your doctors instructions you should be successful. If you are losing 1-2 lbs a week, then you should be on track. I know that it may seem slow, but you didn't gain all the weight over night, so it will take awhile for it all to come off.

Feel proud of your weight loss so far and remember, you are at the beginning of the journey and still have a long way to go! You will get there!

Thing is I don't think I'm losing 1 to 2 Lbs a week.. I feel at this rate I'm gaining some wait back..

I'm always hungry in between meals and the meals are larger than the should be.

I had my first fill at the end of July and I'm going for my second fill Aug 25th. I definitely don't feel anywhere near enough restriction. From what I have heard and read, that seems to be normal (most people don't get enough restriction after the first fill). And I can eat between 1.5-2.5 cups (depending on the food) at a time. I do feel a tiny bit of restriction but its not good enough. And I don't eat just half a cup of food at meals, I eat between 1.5-2 usually. I have continued to lose weight but I think its because I am exercising almost everyday and I am eating the right things for the most part (a lot of Proteins, not too many carbs and between 800-1000 cals a day). I'm not sure how many pounds a week (probably not quite 2, maybe closer to 1) but I'm hoping that following my second fill I will have much more restriction and will start losing faster. Looking forward to that...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
