I am going to start the Pre op diet on monday.. not looking forward to it but I am looking forward to the outcome. I just got a call at 9am this morning that I am approved. Now I am waiting for the nurse to call me back with a surgery date. Good thing we all have cell phones if I had to sit by a house phone and wait I would go nuts. Just this waiting is driving me nut... can anyone give me an idea of their pre op diet is.

Hey everyone! I had my surgery at 8 am today and I was home by 2:30 this afternoon. The pain isn't so bad, just some aching and gas in my upper abdomen. Gas X and liquid Percocet are controlling it nicely. All and all things are going great!

Congradulations! How long are you on the liquids for post op? My surgery is october 13th and I can't wait. Look forward to seeing more post surgery updates. Well, congrats again and good luck.

Thanks everyone! Guy, I am on Clear Liquids From Friday (surgery day) until Sunday, then I slowly add in other full liquids for 4 to 7 days, then I'll be on purreed food until my 2 week postop appointment, after which they will hopefuly let me start having soft solids.

By the way, I got some Isopure and a couple other clear prottien drinks from GNC, that way I'm still getting the Protein my body needs to heal!

Hi everyone,

I feel like it is going to be forever for me (Oct.29th). But I am glad to read that most of you are having good experiences. I go for my PATs on Wednesday, but my doc does not require a pre liquid diet, I am still practing the chewing part. I think this is going to be the most difficult thing for me to change. On average I chew three times and swallow, so this will be a BIG behavorial change for me.

Wishing you that have been banded good luck, and those that are yet to be banded, you are in my thoughts and I am rooting for you.

best to all.. barb

Hey caseyb, you asked about others' pre-op diets. Mine is a 2 week liquid diet. Protein Shakes, broths, tea, and all the Water I can drink ;-)

I'm amazed at how different all the pre-op diets are. Some have no pre-op diet while I've seen others post 3 month diets. You'd think there would be a more uniform way to do this. My band date is 10/19--Bring it on!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
