Happy Birthday Karla !!!!!

Sorry is hasn't been a good day with that sad news.... Are any of your Kids coming over - Are you going to make yourself a nice dinner or go out ...

Brief outline of last nights post

Karri Hugs I thought 3/25 was a surgery date.. Well at least you can have some food for dinner and you aren't having to live totally on liquids.. Hugs...

Linda -WTG on shopping... Do you have Surgery date yet..

Phyl - Yep I love my house to myself - I love doing as I please - I have never had to report or explain what I spent my $$$ on - So at this age don't think I could or would ever be able to.. Only a couple days till Cabo -Enjoy..

Candice - Glad Peter liked your clothes ;0) and that you are back on track ;0)

Karla - Once the baby is born you will feel so much love for it - it will get better..

Didn't go to bootcamp last night due to the whole bending up and down - so tonite I went and walked the treadmill - haven't done that in almost 1 yr - I haven't been doing treadmill since I started boot camp 6/10

Well thought I would be super out of shape on it - well did 50 minutes burned 404 calories - had it on 6 incline @ 4 mph and then had it on 12 @ 3.5 mph - then 21 incline at 2.5 mph - and I am alive ..

Came home loaded dishwasher - vacuumed 3 rooms and started a load of wash...

Now gotta go feed the dogs ;0) - Tonite is Idol... ;0)

cbl

I posted last night - don't know what happen to it - hit add post then next thing I saw was that site was down - so I guess my Early Bday Wishes - weren't seen...

Karla - only one kid called wtf - you know Joseph didn't call me on Mothers Day one yr - well he didn't get a call or anything for his birthday - if you can't at least call and leave a message - then I guess I don't have a son - it killed me that yr on his bday - but I'll be damn - I wasn't going to acknowledge him if he didn't acknowledge me as his Mother.. Shame on them...

Oh Karla, I am so sorry to hear about your GF`s husbands suicide; That is just devastating for her... but you are a good friend... and that is what she needs right now... good friends to lean on. If I can offer a tich of advise, please let her know that HIS killing himself was NOT about HER.... at all.... Each person on this earth is responsible for themselves... beit getting on a diet for themselves, seeking a Psych. eval for themselves... etc... This SUICIDE is on HIM.... I pray that you can help her understand that she is not quilty of this... It was HIS choice.... albeit a bad one, and one with terrible ramifications for those left behind. He was ILL and in need of prof. help... he obviously chose not to do this.

I feel so badly for her.... my Dad committed suicide... and for many years I thought it was my fault, or I should have done something, or I should have been a better daughter......after much analysing... I finally came to the conclusion that it was hil illness ... it had absolutley nothing to do with me... then I was able to forgive him... I pray that your friend makes it thru this not her fault.

My friend 'knows' it isn't her fault, but her heart is telling her otherwise. She started counceling immediately. But I am not sure that she will ever get the sound of the gun shot out of her head. I don't know that forgiveness is going to happen any time soon, especially when we know he did it to hurt her. I can understand and forgive someone who truely feels they can't deal with life any longer, but someone who commits suicide to hurt someone else, I just don't know. There is no doubt he was ill, but does illness make you want to hurt someone?

Janet, yeah I am hurt by my kids missing the birthday thing. Needless to say, food hasn't been good. I'm hurt. Elyse has actually called me twice today, emailed twice, and not once said Happy Birthday and you know that I am just too stubborn to say anything, no one to blame but myself. The others...well, they have their lives.

But homework is almost done, and spring break starts tomorrow at 3:30, SO all will be fine.

You all have a good evening.

TTFN

Okay... my post just went away! I am having trouble adjusting to this new computer. And it's VERY slow on the internet... sluggish would be a compliment! Don't know what's wrong, but this is just not acceptable and my new Outlook program won't send/recieve mail. Very annoying! May have to take it in to Best Buy when we get back and see if they can help me get this thing working right. My old computer is MuCH faster!

Fly out of P.S. @ 7 a.m. Neighbor, Ruthie is taking us to the airport, keeping Zoey and caring for candy. Earl has been taking Zoey over every day to try to make the adjustment easier. She loves Ruthie, but we'll see how she gets along with her three cats!!!

Will miss you all while I'm gone! Jim is bringing his laptop, so maybe we'll share internet time... $15 a day. Back late in the evening on the 9th, Earl's birthday!

Darn cold one at work today, rained for most of it, but people were out and we sold a lot of trees, my favorite time of year!! Nice to come home and have a hot shower and tea, so laundry started, need to change the bed and then I can be a slug for a couple of hours after homework. Enjoy your movie!!

Morning ladies!! At least it isn't raining!!! Work today, then finish homework. I haven't hear from my friend since the funeral, I hope she is okay. Naturally I wish there was something I could do, but I know there isn't. I keep leaving her phone messages that she is strong and safe, hopefully it is the right thing. If you want to see a eagle nest with a newly hatch eaglet, hatched yesterday, go to : http://www.raptorresource.org/falcon_cams/ they now have two eaglets.

Anyway, Janet, hope you had a good evening with your friend. Oh I'm taking Elyse to her doc appt this week. Working on being supportive!

Morning! Working at the nursery, but is great not to be working at school, I am only working Monday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, so I'll have a little down time to do some yard work!!! Can't wait.

Had a nice visit with my friend who's husband killed himself. She is doing okay. We avoided talking about the husband, but that is good. I was worried that I was being a pain, I called and left her messages everyday, but included that she didn't need to call back, just that I wanted her to know I was there. She let me know that it all helped and that she needs the support. We are going to meet for coffee on Tuesday.

Candice, where are you girl?

Janet, glad you had a good evening with your friend, yep she should have called home. But it is okay for the DH to worry a little.

See you all later! TTFN

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
