Hi hope everyone is doing good...I am still having gas and runny green stuff (I know TMI) I have been taking gas x for the whole 9 days post op. I emailed my dr and I'm waiting for a response.

My port site is still hurting but I hear it last 4-6 weeks, so hang in there.

I still have gas and spending a fortune on the gasX (it does help) and I walk alot which is also helping with the gas. Although my doctor has given me the ok to add a few foods, i havent moved on yet, because everytime i try the gas is worst. so just be patient, each of us is different and I think that gas will be part of our lives now and then.

My port site is sore, i can feel pulls when i bend a certain way, or sleep on that side. But it feels better each day.

My husband has been a prince through all of this and I have only told a very select few members of my family. I just didn't want anyone looking at me like some sort of science project in a test tube LOL. I have gotten my support from this website and all of you guys going through the same problems and feelings.

As far as being tired, force yourself to walk. I never feel like doing it, but i make myself get out there every morning and I feel so much better afterwards. Are you taking a multi Vitamin? B Vitamins? :(

I was banded on Sept. 18 and am still pretty tired, too. I think it's just part of having surgery, and the body has to have time to heal. I went to work yesterday, my first day back in a week, and I had to come home early because I was so tired. So, give yourself and your body a break---healing is just going to take a while.

I've also had a few depressed moments where I've wondered if I've done the right thing, or when I'm feeling pretty bad physically. You think that maybe the bad physical feelings will never end. But it's just temporary. Keep trying to remember the goal you have in mind. It's pretty normal to feel a little depression after any type of surgery, so just think of it as a side-effect.

I'm sorry you don't have a supportive family, but keep posting here and you'll find encouragement. My husband is sort of so/so on the support, but I'm finding that reading here can really help me, especially the success stories.

Hang in there! We're all pulling for each other! :(

I'm sorry your family is not giving you any support. I pray that they soon realize how important this is to you give you the support you need.

Hi - when you are able to eat mushies get the Greek 0% yogurt (FAGE brand or any brand). My first mushy meal was this and the gas went away fairly quickly. I have a cup a day or every other day. The liquid diet doesn't help the gas situation either.

sep 21 was just a few days ago - I was lucky in that by day 10 I felt fairly normal. I did go to work 5 days later but was getting tired. I worked a full day (well for normal people a full day for me it was an early day i.e. 9-5) 2nd week been back to working 11-12 hours. Everyone heals at different pace.

coloradomom i agree the dailyplate is much better i've tried both.

Just be careful on the exercise calories the two things I do and checked were way overstated (walking and elliptical trainer). Walking 3.5 miles an hour is only 350 calories no matter how fast or slow you walk it (100 calories per mile). They say its more like 600? (i forget)... one entry is high "walk" but 'walking' looks closer. Elliptical is no way 800-900 cals an hour. I went with the value on the machine. Oddly they got riding right.

Hello everyone. Today is my baby's birthday. He is 7. We bought him a birthday cake tomorrow. That is going to be so hard for me because although I am not a sweets person an occasional piece of birthday cake is good and plus it's for his birthday. Oh well! I'll survive.

Happy Birthday to your son :tongue2:

funny enough my middle son turns 11 tomorrow and my youngest turns 2 on the 28th . We are doing their birthdays at chuckys in grapevine next weekend. I should be ok watching everyone eat pizza because their pizza sucks :(

Tonight I started getting hunger pains really bad. I have been sitting at my desk playing games when my stomach started growling. It has gotten increasingly worse. I tried drinking some tea. Then I tried a shake and it only seems to be getting worse. It is making very loud growling noises.

Anyone else with this problem?

Yeah! I agree about the pizza. I'm going to buy something that is sugar free to eat while they eat cake. LOL.

hey ladies,

I'm doing much much better. I still have the cut inside my belly button that healing slower than the rest but all in all I feel well. I'll go to the doctor thursday and make sure things are okay. He was thinking of filling me that day and skipping mushies. What do you all think of that? I dont think i'm going to do it. I don't want to jump right into food just yet-i'm scared I'm going to choke or something.

He was going to fill you and then have you go right to food? That sounds weird to me. You were banded sep 21 or thereabouts right? Post on the sept group and ask if anyone has gone to solid foods 2 weeks post op (that is where you would be right?). If you post w/ a specific topic you will get those answers.

So I see two things wrong with that

1) you would be eating solids before you should be - stomach needs to heal for about 3 weeks

2) you would be getting a fill and eating solids right away - my place has you do 2 days liquids, 2 days mushies after a fill. I don't know what others are doing (again you can post that as a new thread probably in post op section)

I would post threads w/ these questions as here you get less traffic on this particular thread. Its just us who have been following this thread - not that we can't tell you what we think but you would get more opinions and figure out what is best.

So, no one has any words for me?:seeya: Not even a "hope you feel better soon"? My stomach is really hurting with what can be best described as hunger pains.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
