mosean, thanks so much for the reply. with that diet do you about how many grams of Protein you are getting per day? My doctor is very lenient with the preop diet, only making me replace one meal a day for the last week with a Protein Shake. I asked if I could do a liquid diet to get my body used to it and she was fine with it but because she doesnt require it I have no information about it in my preop diet plan. Thanks for any details you can provide. Good luck everyone :)

pre-op liquids-

I have a two week pre-op liquid meal plan, with a few vegetables to choose from. I don't think more than 30g Protein at a meal. 65g protein a day, at a minimum. Add 64oz Water every day. Have 5-6 meals. My bariatric center wants us to start our new lifestyle before surgery, so after surgery we will be familiar with how to proceed.

Wow, this weekend has been tough with the pre-op diet. It was both my anniversary and my husband's birthday. All I could have was slimfast, broth, oatmeal, cream of wheat, and crystal light. I must admit... I had second thoughts while on this diet... it has been so hard. But here we all are turning the corner and soon to be post-op. I am looking forward to all the great things to come! Good luck to you all on Tuesday!!!

I have my surgery date set for Tuesday, 9/8/09. On Friday, 8/28/09, I went through pre-op testing. I start a seven-day pre-op diet tomorrow for the sole purpose of reducing the glycogen stores in my liver.

Here is what I have to follow:

-Clear, sugar-free liquids unlimited: crystal light, sf kool-aid, coffee, tea, broth Soups, sf popsicles, sf Jello, etc.

-Liquids in moderation: sf juice or gatorade (1 c. per day), milk (2 c. per day), sf carnation instant breakfast shakes (2 per day)

-Solid Foods: fruit (1/2 c. canned or small piece of fruit - 2 per day), Dairy (8 oz. light yogurt, 1/2 c. cottage cheese, sf pudding - 3 per day), or raw vegetables ( 2 c. per day)

All in all it doesn't sound too bad, but I am guessing I will be will be craving real food after a couple of days. :)

Best wishes everyone!!

Just a quick post then I am going to read what I have missed for the day... :)

I did start a yahoo group for all of us in September. I am including Aug & Oct, specially the ones at the end of Aug and beginning of Oct. My thought...those in August are a little more ahead of some of us and then we can help the ones in September. One big happy family and push and encourage each other.

I choose Yahoo over, Windows Live and Google groups (I created a group on each one) because Yahoo has the biggest storage of photos!!! Also their storage for files is also pretty big and does not count against your photo storage space.

I will still come to the board to post. But I thought this would be a really nice way to keep in touch, share recipes, encourage, do challenges with each other, photos, etc. Since we are all going through this together and at the same time. Plus you can get everything emailed to you and reply right through the email to the whole group.

So if you would like to join and have a nice Bandster family come on over and sign up! :wink2:

You do have to have a Yahoo ID to be part of the group. To get one sign up here - https://edit.yahoo.com/registration?.intl=us&new=1&.src=ygrp&.v=0&.done=http%3a//groups.yahoo.com

Also when you apply to be a member just let me know you are part of the lap band forum or when your surgery date is/was. I don't just want to let anyone join at this time.

Okay hope everyone had a great weekend. If the link to join below does not work I will edit until I can get it to work.

I am proud to report that I have made it through my first day of Clear Liquids without a single bite of food! Nothing but broth, sf drinks, sf Jello. And I am still alive, amazing!

I also had the best Last Supper with my husband last night. I described it in detail in my blog, for those who enjoy "Food Porn." :wink2:

Two days and a few hours left.... :)

I read your food porn...damn that sounded way to good. I was drooling as I read it.

I am glad your first day went easy that is awesome...hope things went just as easy today!!!

i am getting banded in 2 days and am having a hard time with the last few days of the pre-op liquids. i just keep thinking that most Dr.s don't require the full 2 week liquid diet anymore, but i hope all goes well. if i had more will power i wouldnt be needing the lap band, right? trying as hard as i can to stick to it, but have to be honest, i have had a few solids here and there.

Don't beat yourself up about it, so have I and I still have lost weight.:)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
