Elizabeth, my surgeon that put my band on does my fills too. He put a lot in last Monday and I got scared that it was too much. I had him take a little bit out, and now I am sorry I did. I discovered the fill loosens up after a couple of days. The first two days I could hardly eat at all. Now I am back to eating like normal. This band is frustrating to learn.

I am thinking I am a part of this GROUP also. I started ON MY scales @ 251 then by surgery 242, which some how the DR SCALES were 239?? I am 5"6. I am now about 223. I was banded in Nov of 06. So according to my band DR I have only lost about 16#'s in 5 months. However I am very happy. I have lost from a 18/20 all the way down to SOME 14's :heh: ! I exercise 5-6 times a week, walk 3 days, eliptical 3 days for 30-40 minutes, weight training a 1/2 hour 3 days a week. I get comments often about my weight loss. BUT the funny thing is I have not lost that much weight... I am getting another fill tomorrow and was actually thinking UMM.. I am losing, I am getting smaller do I really want one? But to try and speed up the process because the lake is calling my name this summer I thought I would. I do snack too much on fairly healthy items but calories are calories! I am hoping this fill makes things go a bit faster! I have only had two fills so far, I am torn about my comfort level of enjoying life which I am able to do right now and trying to get this weight come off a bit faster. :paranoid

Count me in too. I started out at 230 in Feb. 2006 was banded May30 2006 and weighed 218. I am almost at my one year anniversary and I have only lost 16 pounds. I tried the high Protein Shakes but was told to stay away from that type of diet due to my health issues. I am more mobile than I used to be but I still don't have a regualr exercise routine. I was last filled in November 2006. That fill made it impossible for me to eat more than half a saucer of food (yes it was tough at first, but I made it through the holidays). I plan to have a fill soon but what can I do to jump start the weight loss process? I am at 202 which is a major plateau from me. The next one is 187 if my memory is correct. I am constantly being complimented on the amount of weight being loss and I am able to wear clothes that I havent' worn in 15 years (I have six sizes in my closet).

Is there anybody out there who has reached their goal who was off to a slow start?

I am most definetely a part of this group. My surgery was July 2006 and I lost 18 lbs right after surgery and stayed there for about 3 months. I rec'f 1st fill in Oct 2006, and lost about 4 lbs. I got a 2nd fill in Feb. 2007 and have lost 8 lbs, which is about a lb a week. I am planning on having a 3rd fill in May. I started exercising this past week, 3 days of low impact aerobics for 30 minutes, and 2 days of walking for 45 minutes. I think my biggest problem is wrong food choices. I would appreciate any suggestions or comments to help me out.

It would be nice if some of the others who aren't slow losers would come in here and give us advice. How can we get them to do that?

I would recommend starting a new thread on that topic. I think this thread should probably be kind of 'just us' if that makes any sense.

I am very frustrated too:mad: . I was banded 10/30/06 and have only lost about 39lbs. I have tried everything. The problem I have is the healthy food is impossible to tolerate(Meats, ect). If I am supposed to eat Protein I am not sure how to get it down. chips and ice cream go down fine, but I try to stay away. I get sick of Soups. I am confused. TOO Tight? Not tight enough? Who knows! I know I need to exercise more.

Turner, 39 lbs in 7 months is not slow. Anything from 1 to 2 lbs per week is average... I completely understand your frustration, because when we all get banded, we want the weight gone yesterday, but you didn't put the weight on in a year, and it's gonna take longer than that to get it all off. ;)

Have you tried stewed meats? Maybe that will be easier to get down. I have only lost 20lbs and I was banded the day after you. I drink while I am eating though so I am working on that.

Sarah, I would like to try what you said about starting a new thread. I am still not sure where things go on this board. Is it the main lap band forrum?

And would I just say that some of us are doing what we're told and not losing anyway, and ask for advice?

I haven't lost anything after I lost a couple lbs when I got filled. It's like my body just gets used to the size of portions it gets and stops losing. I am not starving myself. Some people say if you don't eat enough, you won't lose either. I eat between 1,000 and 1,200 calories a day. I eat mostly Protein, but I do have Kashi Cruch Cereal a couple times a week. It's high in Fiber and I worry about colon cancer from eating only Protein. It's what they call "good carbs" anyway.

I just got I believe my 3rd fill. Banded Nov 2006. I am so tight! YIKES. Can't eat hardly anything with substance. I guess I am still learning the way of the band. I have been hesitatant to be too agressive. This fill has made that not possible so far. I have only averaged about 1# a week since my first fill.:guess I guess things will probably pick up if this doesn't loosen up a bit.

Denise, I would put it on the main Lap Band Support forum. When you post, the more successful losers are going to ask what you're eating, when you're exersizing, etc, so be ready with that info .

There are other similar posts, but it wont hurt to start a new one with all the newer people around.

Well you sound like my kinda ... OK, I was banded 4/10/07, have lost 5#...BUT...isn't there always one? The 3 others banded that day have lost 12, 14 & 16#. I have done the deal correctly, to the tune of about 30 calories a day as close as I can figure, and started walking day 3 now at one and a half miles a day. whine.

Turner24,

I may not belong here. I've lost 65 pounds since my badning on Oct.3, 2006. But... I lost all of that by the first of March. I got my last fill in March and it's really tight. I can hardly tolerate anything. Yesterday, I had a total of 400 calories. But I'm not losing. haven't lost a pound since that fill. Thi is really strange since I'm not keeping anything down! I'm extremely proud of my loss up until that time. But what could be goin on?!?!

I'm sorry, My last fill was Feb. 22nd. My doc. refuses to put anymore in until I can tolerate some solid Protein. I completely understand. I don't want to be any tighter than I am, believe me but am wondering what could be the problem here.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
