Right then. How many pounds have you lost since your fill? (((hugs)))

What's your starting BMI, just a general range, and how much excersize are you getting in?

I was banded on 07/28/06

1st fill 08/28/06 2cc

2nd fill was 1cc 09/28/06

but I was told I only have 2.80 total in the band So I guess some must have come out

I have not lost 2 pounds since my last fill on 09/28/06 a total of 12 pounds since being 1st banded on 07/28/

I'm 5'3 start weight was 229 I'm now 216 I think. I guess by bmi was right at 40 I would like to get down to 140-150 range. I try and excerise 3 times a week. I'm not very good at that yet.

I don't know if I am slow loser or not, I have lost only 22 lbs. since my surgery in Aug 23,2006. The month of my surgery I missed my period and in sept I had one right before my follow-up and fill. I felt the restriction and still do but I kept stepping on the scale and not seeing the pounds fly off like I expected and put my scale in the closet. I can only hope I have lost more and that I didn't have the surgery for nothing. I really hope this works for me. I have my next fill on the 24th of this month. So, I don't know if I qualify for a slow user, but I sure feel like it.

I have a question for all you long time slow losers.

From what I've been reading, many people have Hair loss when they lose weight because of an decrease in the kind of Iron you find in beef. That and the fact that when you are stressed lot of nutrients like vitaman B goes to your other vital organs and away from parts of your body where it's not so critical - like your hair.< /p>

Ive read that you should take iron suppliments as well as B complex vitamens and of course 1000 - 5000 mg of Biotin per day.

I'm just curious if a slow weight lose also helps you avoid losing hair?

Any ideas?

i think i need to apply to the slow losers club!!! i was banded 7/14/06 and have only lost 18 lbs most of it was the the 2wk pre op and 2wks post op

this is mostly my fault because i eat what i want but much less than before

i am still not restricted enough i have had 2 fills but with each fill the dr. has had trouble getting the needle in the right place to inject the saline in with the last fill the dr commented on not being alble to pull the saline back tso see how much was in. the first fill was make with fluro after the dr tried without the second was done in office with no flouro i can still eat bread and big bites and i know i don,t chew enough

i walk 2-3 miles 3x a week at least and then work in the yard on the weekend(push mow , hoe and transplant and pruning plants.

i'm trying not to get discouraged and i go on the 30th for a fill ( i called for an earlier one but dr on vacation) maybe after the 30th things will change!!

sorry for all the rambling but i needed to talk it through!!

Thanks for listening

susan

Hi Bella,

I have no idea on your hair comment but I can tell you I have very thick hair, always have, and I have always been big from my earliest memory. Forget slow loser, I am a no loser since my op in April this year. I have restriction, I've had 9 adjustments and 5.5mls in, anymore and I cant eat at all.

Interesting, I was just thinking about the only time I've ever lost hair and it was whilst I was pregnant. This is the only time I ever lose weight, 20kgs/44lbs. But the last time it stayed off!!! woohoo

I am definitely part of this club and very happy to see you all! I was banded in january 2006 and have lost less then 30 pounds. with another 70 - 100 to go (depending on the goal of thin or average) it seems along road to go. I've had two fills and it seems that right after each fill, I drop a few pounds. then i get to a point where nothing budges. then I get frsutrated and then the band seems to open wide and let it all in! I'm going for my third fill later this week so I am hoping for some loss before the holidays! What really kills me is that the only person who sees the weight loss to date is my primary dr. He tells me I look younger, that my blood work is indicative of a healthy person. Last night, I was at a family event. A cousin dropped 10 pounds counting calories and they were all practically slapping her on the back with congratulations. me? no one notices. EERRRR

Bella, I don't have any idea about what to tell you about your hair question either. Sorry.

Susan, it sounds like you haven't had a fill at all, let alone a decent fill! If he couldn't pull out any, my money is on there wasn't any there. And I only be on sure things. Good luck on getting a good fill this time. If you don't get a good fill this time, start asking questions. The band doesn't work if it doesn't have a fill.

Belle, it's too soon to know if you are a slow loser yet or not. But definiately start demanding answers from your doctors. It is never too soon for that.

Always_Smile, we always start out sucky when we start something new. That's part of the charm of being a beginner. Keep up the good work. But I think it's time to go to your doc and start asking questions. I think it's one of the hardest things to have WLS and not lose weight. It is not reasonable to be on the completely restive diet that we are on, and not lose weight. Time to take your journals from fitday.com or sparkle and go to your doc and start asking questions, and demanding answers.

Hi all, I know I've been MIA for a while. I was burned fairly badly about a month ago, so I've had other things on my mind. I'm healing well, I still have a few places on my arm (the 3rd degree burns) that lack skin, but the doctor says they are doing fine.

My one year bandiversary was last week. I got on the scale, net loss since surgery: 17 lbs. That is so depressing. I haven't lost anything at all since my last fill. I finally have restriction, but I don't know about "good" restriction. It hurts everytime I eat because I have first-bite syndrome pretty bad. But I can eat a normal-size plate of food after the pain eases up, so my doctor says I'm not too tight. My food decisions have taken downhill slide in recent weeks. chips and ice-cream are among the only items that don't trigger my "first bite syndrome" thing, so you can see why I am having problems. I'm always always always always hungry. And I'm depressed too. My doctor put me on a new anti-depressant last week. Here's hoping this one will work, the wellbutrin didn't help at all. I miss you guys; I'll try to do better at keeping in touch.

I find that if I drink something hot first I don't have that first bite thing. I either use hot Water with a lemon in or hot tea. You may want to try this.

(((((Kryssa)))) oh no! not a burn. They take forever to heal.. but you know that. Did you need grafs? (graphs?) I hope you didn't have to deal with infections.. You poor thing!

Right, it's time for you to start demanding answers from other doctors. Get your PCP to get you a referal to an Endocryinologiost or an internist. Do not settle on "metabolic X" or some other "we don't know answer."

Just because doctors have MD behind their name doesn't mean they know everything. I was in the ER last night for one of my killer headaches. The ER doc basically said I was a lier, and that Cyclical Cushing's doesn't exisit... Well, he's not an Endo, he's not an Endo that specialized in Cushing's and he sure as heck doesn't live in my body.

all you slow losers, FIGHT! DO NOT TAKE THIS LYING DOWN.

you know somethings wrong, don't let some fool who's seen you for all of 15 minutes tell you otherwise.

Do not go quietly into the dark!

Cherg, "first bite syndrom" is when we take our first bit and then we are too tight to eat any more. Sometimes we get stuck and slime or worse. You will find all of our jargon http://lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73 here

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
