anyone have PCOS-polycystic ovarian syndrome?

Well part of me is relieved to understand why I never feel satiated and part of me is horrified that its not something I can "fix". Though it does explain why low carb always works best for me.

Well Congratulation soonergirl. I know that those are trying times but you definitely have a reward from it.

Ladies, have you all been to www.soulcysters.net? All are pcos'ers who know how it is and the troubles it can bring. I go there all the time.

I'm bummed out! I called the Dr's yesterday to get my ultrasound results and they only had the preliminary ones in and will not tell me anything until the definate ones arrive. My Dr is now away until next week, so I have to wait until then.

My boobs are still tender and feel really big. I also feel really bloated. I need to resist getting the early pregnancy kits.......

I have PCOS and was banded 2/3/09. I have lost 80 lbs YTD. We had met with a fertility doctor just last month and he gave me the grim news that we had a 2% chance conceiving naturally due to my age (37) and PCOS and he also saw signs of ovarian dysfunction. We decided to do IVF in November. Well- guess what- I am 4 weeks pregnant!!! We have TTC for our years and I believe without a doubt it was my weight loss that helped (also we used Pre-Seed this month to help increase chances of conception).

Good luck to all bandettes TTC.....I tell you we are still in shock!

From what I've observed over the years being active on forums, PCOS is prevalent in obese women. I have overcome all of my symptoms after being banded. My periods regulated after the first 30lbs lost. I still wasn't sure if I ovulated or not though.... but found out that I do indeed ovulate when I discovered I was pregnant. I'm 17 weeks now.

I'm a member over there and have been since 2002.

I have 2 beautiful sons thanks to a wonderful RE. Our main issue was male, even though my PCOS got in the way too. I'm hoping the band will help me get my weight under control and possibly try for a third child.

Your pcos can not be cured. It is something that you will have the rest of your life. It is something that you can get under control whether it be through medication or diet and exercise.

Yes, I have it and have suspected I had it for years. Gained over 100 lbs in a years time 10 years ago. Doctors just kept treating the symptoms with meds, the hbp, high lipids, depression, etc.

Finally I got properly diagnosed one month ago. My testosterone was over double what the dr says it should be. I have started on metformin. the endo dr says its almost impossible for me to lose weight with my hormones so out of whack.

He also said it was a miracle I conceived twice and had 2 full term babies. I attribute it to going on a low low carb diet just prior to each pregnancy.

Hopefully between the lb surgery and the meds for insulin resistance (pcos) the weight will finally start dropping.

good luck to all who are trying to conceive with pcos!

Haven't been banded yet, but it IS possible to have children with PCOS. In fact, it's possible to have several. I have three daughters, 11, 10 and 7.

The thing that really sucks about PCOS is that it is so different for different people. Some people's weight is really impacted by it, but there are plenty of thin people with PCOS where weight loss doesn't help their PCOS at all. Fertility is similarly impacted. For some people the condition wreaks havoc on the hormones- killing fertility, for some people PCOS doesn't harm their fertility at all. Some people's PCOS responds to moderate diet changes or metformin. Other people need to drop significant weight to see improvements.

If you are overweight with PCOS, I think you are lucky because there's a good chance that weight loss can help your symptoms. :)

I agree. I know people with babies without babies with lots of hair and without. It is definitely different strokes for different folks. I hope I do see a significant change once I lose weight. Espeicially with the IR part of it. My blood sugars are very wacky and I would like to them them to a point where I don't get dizzy and tired so much.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
