hi, what kind of foods are you eating to loose this without exercising, thanks

It ends up being low carb/low calorie. I’m not really trying for low carb, it just works out that way because I don’t have much room after the Protein. I end up with 3 meals a day of between 300 and 500 calories per meal. Typically for Breakfast I will eat two eggs over easy and a slice of toast (I can usually only eat the yolks and a tiny bit of white). lunch will be some sort of meat and a bite or two of carb (rice or bread), dinner is similar to lunch. I try to mix in a small V8 during the day to make up for the veggies I am missing. If I feel like snacking I usually go for microwave popcorn or a handful or two of almonds. I think it is just the tiny portions I am eating that make all the difference. I have had good restriction since the start and I might even be a little too tight right now.

hi all, i was just wondering, i heard men tend to lose wight faster and more wight than women with the band, what are some amounts of weight loss and time to lose it , and how long have you had your band? thanks

Well I have currently had my band for just about a month, since my 2 week pre op diet till now I have lost 45 pounds. I am down about 70lbs since I started my adventure back in Feb of this year. I go for my first fill in about 3 weeks and cant wait to start felling restriction.

Pre-op, my steady rate (ie, discounting spikes) was about 3#/wk. Post-op, it's around 3-4#/wk. Since April, I've lost 66#, 26# of that since my surgery on 30 Jun.

I'm 5'10, started at ~345# (BMI 50), and was eating around 1700cal/day for 2mo pre-op, and doing 45min walks nightly. Post-op, I'm doing about 500cal/day, with 45-75min walks about every other day (I need to increase that, but the weather's just been too damn hot and humid, and I've been having to tube-feed a sick cat). No fills yet, though I will PB if I go beyond about 4-5oz of solids.

Is it okay to only have 500 calories a day. Do you not feel weak all the time?

Not in the least! My body lives off of food Protein and body fat, not carbohydrates, and I have no problem walking 3 miles in good footwear -- I could walk more but at some point I get bored.

Banded Sept '08, was 260, now 175, goal 160-165. 3 fills so far. I only weigh myself maybe once a month at the most. Waist went from 44 to about 32. Most of the fat is gone, I'm guessing I probably have 5-10 lbs of that old loose skin/fat thing going on, although working out seems to help that.

I never did diet, it was very important for me to not think of this whole thing as a diet but just the way I eat now. So I still eat out all the time, have some dessert, grab some fast food now and then, and drink and party with my buddies as normal.

I lost around 50lbs then stopped for a few months, started working out and the fat started melting off again. I am losing weight a lot slower now, but I have gained a substantial amount of muscle since I started weight training and my waist line kept shrinking.

No complaints, I'm down to high school weight and I was athletic back then, football and wrestling. Never thought I'd see it happen.

I have been banded since July 20, so 5 weeks and I have lost 32 lbs. I have been walking 30 minutes a day like the doctor said and that seems to really make a difference.

You are doing awesome man! My goal is much the same but I started at 275. I plan on 165 as my goal and when I was that weight last I was a 32 or 30 waist as well. Oh man, the good ole days.

Down 73 lbs. Was banded May 1, 2009. Not working out like I should. I've had 3 fills to date (3.5 cc) Basically eating a low carb diet. Didn't get a fill this month because the doctor was pleased with my weight loss and I seem to have good restriction. It's funny, I don't seem to be able to eat in the mornings with the band so I have a Protein Shake and then a yogurt around 10 am. My doctor says a lot of people have difficulting eating in the morning because of being in a lying position all night. I guess I will take his word for it. I just hate the fact that one day I can eat a food item and the next day it doesn't sit well. Ground beef in patties and bacon are killers for me...I try to avoid them. I also have more diffulting when I'm eating out with friends. I think it is because I'm talking more and not watching what I am doing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
