Bansters who have been banded a while, do you still burp?

Recommended Posts

Im newly banded and everytime I eat or drink I have to belch a HUGE belch. Its so embarrassing, but theres no way I could hold it in. I cant imagine ever going out to dinner again if it continues, or else Im going to have to get really good at quietly burping. These are like HUGE SALOR burps that would make my brother proud. Please tell me this is a temp thing?!

Since surgery, I never ever burp like a boy anymore. Instead, I have tiny little almost inaudible (almost) little burps while eating.

I take it as an indicator that I need to slow down and chew better - it sometimes helps.

I am 7 mo out and used to burp a lot more and bigger for a few months after. Now my burps are smaller and often come with food (lol). You will learn to eat and swallow differently to trap less air.

HA HA! It's been two and a half years, and depending on what I have eaten, or even as a signal that I am full, I do burp a little. It doesn't sound very nice, but at the same time it is a tool to stop before a PB or stuck episode happens-which aren't pleasant, as we all know.

I burp more than I used to...but usually it's tied to eating too fast. The mere thought horrified me preband, but now I don't care. I don't belch in public and have never horrified myself and my companions LOL It's worth it for the band, IMHO.

Youre so lucky! I cant controll mine! They are huge belches that would make any man envious. Whenever I eat I get so much gas trapped and I just feel so full and then out of nowhere they just come out. I could be mid sentence or word and BUURRP! It actually scared the crap out of me the first few times it happend, but now I just expect to know it will happen within twenty min of eating. I think as I get used to these new feelings I will be able to controll it better. Or figure out how to trap less gas when I eat. I feel like an infent who needs a good burping after every meal. At least I dont spit up.......yet. I guess I shouldnt talk too soon before my first fill. :cool2:

That will get better as your band settles down and your stomach and digestive tract get over being ticked at you for messing with them! :cool2:

Although I do burp more after each fill, for a while. Apparently I do because now my "beloved" precious husband will BELCH and then look at me and say "I have new restriction" LOL  And no, he does NOT have a band. He just copies me when it suits him.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
