Do I really need first fill?

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 weeks post op and I'm scheduled for my first fill this thursday. I've lost 40 total since pre-op diet. I still get full very fast. I eat very little and no snacking. For example today for lunch I had 3 little grilled chicken nuggets (mcdonalds sized) and I'm almost miserable because I ate too much. Breakfast is usually one egg or half a chicken thigh and I'm so full I feel like I'm stuffed. My surgeon wants me to go ahead and do the fill, but I'm sort of leaning towards cancelling. I don't want to be overfilled and I'm certainly not eating a lot.

What do ya'll think? Oh and my port site still is pretty sore 5 weeks out, is this normal?

Lisa

Wait until you stop losing, are hungry and can eat more than 1/2 cup of solid Protein and get hungry every 3 hours or less. Some people do not get a fill for 6 months or more and lose well.

Listen to your body and don't let your surgeon force you into anything you are not ready for. Have you told him about your restriction? It's probably a good idea to keep the appointment anyway, just so you can see and talk to your surgeon face to face. Don't let him do the fill if you aren't ready.

5 weeks out and 40 lbs lost? Congrats! and keep up the good work!

I personally waited 6 months before my first fill. I was losing steadily and felt restriction. I chose to get my first fill because my weight loss was getting slower and slower and I noticed that I could eat more than before.

You know your body better than anyone else, so I say follow your instincts.

Congrats on your lose so far!! Keep up the good work!!!

I am almost 4 months out and have not had a fill. My surgeon says relax and enjoy the ride, at first I was upset that I was not getting a fill because everyone talks about their fills and I felt ripped off, then after I started eating foods that challenged my band I realized that I do have restriction and I will relax and enjoy the ride.

Sometimes I wonder how many bandsters get a fill before they really need one.

I have lost 51 since my March 24th surgery date and 30 on my pre op!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
