Ive looked and looked and haven't seen anyone post this problem so here goes....

I was banded 10-15-08 and since banding almost everytime I eat I get pains in the pit of my stomach like ulcer pains. sometimes I can breathe through it and keep the food down, other times I have no choice but to vomit, I have asked everyone I work with that has been banded and no one has had pain in the pit of their stomach with the band its always been chest or throat pain. Well tonight as we were watching fireworks and I had the most severe lower abdominal pain (low like belly button area/lower intestines) that encompassed my entire lower belly and into and around to my lower back, we walked a mile and half just prior to this and it started hurting when I stopped walking, as I was standing there watching the fireworks in pain I literally passed out and my husband caught me before I fell to the ground. When I came to it was weird, the pain was gone and I felt better. Since then I have been able to drink Water fast, drank a can of diet soda with no burping ( I drank this to see if my band was still there because usually I cant drink soda AT ALL) and have been able to eat a hot dog on a bun....Im concerned now....do you suppose my band eroded, or do you suppose it came apart and thats where the pain was coming from? there was absolutely no pain at the port site or band site when I was experiencing the severe pain before I passed out and not pain now, it was all lower intestinal pain and low back pain. I am intending to call my doctor on monday I was just curious if anyone else has ever experienced this. Im completely dumbfounded. I feel great now but am very worried about something being wrong with my band now. I have lost 53 pounds since placement of the band. Help?

Get yourself to a doctor honey. I'm no expert because I'm a newbie but please go see about this. Even if it's to have an x- ray. Pain like that just isn't normal so please go see your doc. Take care and good luck

Why have you asked "everyone you work with" who has a band, but NOT your doctor? Please call him/her ASAP!

I feel great today. And I did ask my doc about the pain when eating before and he told me he thought "I wasnt chewing enough" but I chew my food to baby food consistency and I wait like 3-5 minutes between bites, I take almost an hour to eat my meals which is why I started asking others if they ever experienced this, then after what happened last night it really concerned me. Im gonna call on Monday and go see him, I just was posting to see if anyone had ever had this happen to them because it scared the B-jesus outta me. anyone else ever had this????

well I went to the Doctor today....he attributed my passing out to either a hypoglycemic episode or dehydration. said to take a snack and a bottle of Water with me on my walks from now on. As for the pit of my stomach pain....he thinks I may have developed an ulcer and started me on prevacid solutabs once daily. If this doesnt help we will try something else. So far I have not had the abdominal pain today and have not had another passing out episode. went for a mile and half walk this evening and did fine. time will tell I guess...just thought I would update everyone.

Glad to see your update! I hope the Prevacid does the trick for you. What did he say about you suddenly being able to eat and drink so much more than before? I sure hope you don't have any more trouble, and congrats on the weight loss so far!

it must have just have been a fickle band day. since then....Im back to the 3-4 bites and Im full feeling. No clue.... and he didn't know either, but it's something we will be watching. But I haven't experienced the pain or the being able to eat like that since. I have a weird band! Leave it to me to be the odd ball out! My husband had horror stories and the murphy's law thing with his gastric bypass so I guess it's only fitting I follow suite lol. Hopefully it's smooth sailing now because that really scared me. Thanks for posting

Hi Im going through the same thing right now. I went to my general prac. DR yesterday he said he didn't feel anything enlarged and took blood test, so we will see. I think i'm going to call my lapband Dr. to see what she thinks. I have pain after I eat and then drink, the more I drink the worst the pain is I can hardly breath on sunday when it happend. I'm not throwing up, no fever, nothing stuck, the pain is not around my port, so anyways I guess I will call the Dr tomorrow.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
