Need help to get back on the band wagon

Recommended Posts

I was banded Feb 25th and did really well the first 3 months, losing about 10lbs per month. Now I seem to be at a stand still for the past 6 weeks, only losing about 3.5lbs. I know it is probably because I need a fill. I had to miss my appointment at the beginning of June, because I didn't have the money to pay for it, since my husband and I neither one are working right now. So even though I can't get a fill right now, I need some suggestions on how I can get my self back on track. I have been kind of depressed about not losing any weight and then I eat, which I know is the stupidest thing that I could do, but I guess old habits die hard. I hope to be able to get a fill some time this month, but I would really like to try and straighten up and get things moving again before then. I really appreciate and welcome any comment. Thanks for listening

My doctor has me weigh daily. He says if I go 5 days without losing 1 pound, I am to go into time-out. That means I am to go on 3 shakes a day and no food until I lose 2 pounds. Sounds harsh but it is supposed to help with a plateau. If that doesn't work it might be I need a fill or rethink what I'm eating.

Are you sure this is right? I don't know anyone who can consistently lose 5lbs a week.

I have been struggling too. i went 2 months without losing anything. then i stuck to the diet for 2 weeks and lost 5 lbs. in two weeks.

fortunately and unfortunately i started a new job--great that i started working--bad for the diet. I get to eat for free in the cafeteria where i work, only problem is there are FEW healthy choices. and i find myself eating things i shouldnt eat. its not so much the quantity that i am having trouble with--its the quality.

i work from 6a-6p, so its really hard for me to get motivated to get up early to pack a healthy Breakfast and lunch especially since the food is free.

i think its a good idea to start the shakes if you havent lost weight in a week--i havent tried it yet. i think i will try it this week. thanks for the idea.

good luck with getting a fill!!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I did do better today, I have a shake for lunch and a small piece of steak with about a 1/4 of a cup of mash potatoes for dinner. I know it's probably not the healthiest food I could have chosen, but it's just really good for me that I haven't been snacking all day. Thanks again!!!

Hi Jen

I was glad to find your post, I was banded on Feb 23rd and I have lost 36lb. I was wondering if that was good or bad and I know everyone is different!

Knowing your about the same as me makes me feel better, I have been hopeless the last few weeks.

If your interested we could become buddies and check in on each other!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
