hi all, I was banded on 6/19 and have been dealing with a significant amount of gas. Today was the first day I was feeling relief HOWEVER....out of the blue I have this intense stabbing pain in my left shoulder tip. Is this the last of the gas trying to get out??? OMG this is worse then all the gas pains combined

Try walking about as much as you can, it can come & go very quickly, the more you move the easier it becomes, some people take pain relief or heat pads

I know exactly the pain you are experiencing. I had surgery 3/10/09 and same thing--out of the blue comes this excruciating lt. shoulder pain, mainly on the tip of the shoulder. Believe me, I tried everything from Gas-X to lying on my lt. side to sleep to heat. All work temporarily but do know that just as quick as it came it will disappear. Hang in there, it will subside. Mine lasted less than a week.

Ahhh....I remember that well. That shoulder pain was a doosy to get rid of. I had it for almost a month before it fully subsided. What worked for me the best was liquid ibuprofen and a moist heating pad. The heat helped to take the edge off. I even brought it to work! The gas pains and the pre- and post-op diet were the worst of the journey so far. Believe me - it does get much better. You may want to try moving your arms in a circle also as long as walking - okay maybe not at the same time, someone might think you have some serious issues! Someone also told me to sleep on the side that you have the pain also to try and get rid of it quicker. Sorry you're going thru that. It's not fun at all... :smile2:

thank you so much for your quick replies...that was pretty scary for sure. I was in tears for a minute there...I took my pain meds (liquid Lortab) which I haven't had to do in 2 days and got my heating pad out. Whew...it has backed off. Going back to work tomorrow and for certain liquid tylenol and my heating pad are going to be in my tote bag

Thanks again all...everyone has been so great on here :smile2:

Liquid Advil helped me a lot. I ran out of it and I could feel the difference on just taking the Lortab alone. If you don't feel better try Liquid Advil... Good luck?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
