My First NSV

Recommended Posts

I'm so excited right now! I ordered two pairs of size 24 jeans several months ago. When I tried them on pre-surgery they were a good 6 inches away from buttoning. I tried them on today expecting that they wouldn't fit and they do! Okay, they're a little tight in the thighs, but still!

Also, another NSV hit me today. I bought a huge bag of Halloween candy from costco over a week ago. Normally, if I had something like that in the house I would obsess until I broke down and ate 8 or 10 pieces and I was sitting in a sugar coma. Over the course of a week, I've only had 3 pieces. I don't even think about it being in the house. I know I shouldn't be eating candy at all, but that's such a huge improvement for me! And, I only had one piece at a time and was satisfied. I have all sorts of other junk here because I'm having a birthday party for my son this weekend, and I haven't been able to eat more than a bite or two. Restriction rocks! I'm down 6 lbs since my first fill 9 days ago.

Now if I could just get my butt in gear and start exercising I'd really feel like hot s**t... :D:):)

Congratulations, on both counts!!

I can so relate with the candy thing. My mom sent me a care package a couple of months back with 2 huge bags of Minature Reese cups. Back in the day, I could have finished off one bag in a week. Now they just sit at my desk at the office and I might have 2 a week, if that. A little goes a long way :)

Excellent work! I know that my NSVs are what keep my chugging away at this. May this first be just one of hundreds of NSVs for you!

Thanks for the words of support and encouragement everyone!

Vines - your post about NSV's is what gave me a mental shove to look for changes since my surgery. Your an inspiration for those of us new to bandland!

Thanks Anwyn, I'm glad that I've been able to help! I think it is so important to track all the changes in your life. Not only the physical ones, but hopefully the changes we make so that we don't need to be fat any more. And the best way I know of to track these changes is to keep a list of all your NSVs. Besides, when you are invited to be a guest on the Oprah show, you have to have something to show besides what the scale says, right? Right!

Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie here and was wondering what "NSV" stands for. I tried to figure it out all on my own, but haven't had any luck yet. Best Wishes to ALL of You!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
