Any July Bandsters out there?

Recommended Posts

I was not banded on the 27th. I was in the hospital over the weekend for something else, a heart problem, and now I have to get that taken care of before I can be banded...if I can be banded :/

Debster I'm so sorry. If you have been sent home, the hope is you are stable enough to be there. That would hopefully mean your condition is treatable and you will be back for your band in no time.

And as hard as it is, please be a patient patient.

Please take care

Sheri

I have never posted...but have enjoyed reading everyone's posts. I was banded 7/8. My husband was banded on 7/7. We are both doing great. He (being a man, no offense) has lost 2x as much as me, but the dr. told me that would happen.

Thanks to everyone for sharing! It is great to know that we have comrades out there who know what we have gone through. :juggle:

My husband is a great cook (part of our weight problem-lol)---but he has been very creative with our puree foods--thank goodness. I wasn't looking forward to baby food Protein.

Good wishes to those who are going to be banded soon. I wouldn't go back--it was worth it.

I was banded July 16th and so far so good. I'm having trouble getting enough calories in a day is about it. I'm about 500-600 right now at the most. I start puree foods soon so I'm looking forward to that. I'm walking everyday and I've lost about 30 lbs so far. I had about 10 lbs weight lost before surgery. I had yummy refried Beans today and it tasted like heaven!:juggle: Hang in there everyone, you are doing great!

Me and Hubby were banded on July 24, 2009. He had to have the Hernia taken care of too, so he is having more problems keeping the liquids down. We both had soarness in our legs, neck, and stomache. I am doing great, went back to work yesterday with no problems. Hubby stayed out for the whole week. I am so glad for this surgery because I am tired of being overly healthy (hehehe). He has lost 30lbs total (pre-op 19lbs) and I have lost 20lbs (pre-op 10lbs). I recommend this for anyone needing help/control.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
