First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos

Recommended Posts

Well I finally received my first fill on 7/2 (was supposed to get it on 6/16 but had to reschedule) I only received 2.5 cc's and am still not feeling any restriction. I was hoping since I am already 2 months out the would give me double what the normally do, but no such luck. I go in for a follow up on 7/28 I feel like I am never get to the point where I am going to start losing weight. I am hoping this fill will at least help with my hunger a little bit. Too soon to tell since I have just had shakes yesterday and mushies today.

I had my first refill on friday July 3,20009. Right after my fill I could fill the restriction. The nurse in Tupelo that did mind was wonder she really knows what she doing. She laid me on this table and had me to lift my head up off the table and she stuck in the needle and put in 1.22cc and drank so Water and that was that. Didn't hurt at all. She's wonder & very well trained.

Just got back from my second fill. Officially I've only lost 3.5# in the past four weeks but I know that I am retaining Water and its my own fault. I had several green olives and hot dogs for dinner last night.

Well, I got in there and the doctor said that he had 2cc in the syringe but it pushed back after he got 1.2cc in so he said that was where he'd stop today. I could actually feel a bit of movement in my stomach so I assume that I felt the band tighten a bit.

I asked him how much Fluid the band could hold and he said 9cc but has never filled anyone that much. I'm really kind of hoping that this will do the trick for a while but made an appointment for another 4 weeks from today. I am drinking fluid just fine. He said Soup for dinner and tomorrow to chew really well and I think to be on the safe side, I'll have soft foods at least for Breakfast and lunch.< /p>

Good luck to all and hope things are going well.

Congrats, everyone! And good luck with those second fills! I'm in the same boat as some of you -- hungry all the time and desperately awaiting my second fill to get the scale jumping again. It's frustrating to lose restriction!

Just came in from my 1st fill of 4 cc's in the larger band.

I worried for nothing..it was painless.

I did find that the process took longer than usual because my port is tilted, most likely from my waistbands in my slacks.

Just had a shake and felt that gurgle as it went past the band.

So far, all is good.

liquids for 2 days.

Raining again today....Believe it or not , the holiday weekend was the first rain free weekend we've seen since April 25th!

OMG, I think I have restriction!

As I noted in a previous post, I had my second fill last night bringing me to 5.2cc in my band. I was told to have Soup for dinner and just chew really well today. Deciding to be on the safe side, I made one scrambled egg with some cheese for breakfast. Because I was running a little late for my dietician appointment, I ate in 10 min versus 30. As I was driving to the appointment, I began to feel really full. Not uncomfortable, but as if I'd eaten a large meal. It is now three hours later and I still feel that fullness! I really hope this will last for a while since my weight loss has been really slow (and some weeks nonexistant!). I'll keep everyone posted but good luck to all.

I'm looking forward to getting my 2nd fill too. When I had the first fill, I noticed a slight difference, but only for a couple days, now I feel hungry more often than I'd like. I still have about 2 weeks until my next appointment-- I'm pretty sure I'll get the 2nd fill then.

Hopefully I notice more of a change after that-- it seems like many of you are-- that's great!

Right now my scale is hopelessly stuck on the same number!

I got my first fill today. I have 2.4cc's in my band. When I ate dinner, I could feel the difference, but that may just be because it's so new and perhaps some of it will settle down. I was still able to eat fairly easily, but I could tell it was a bit more restricted.

Fingers crossed!! I have an appointment for a month from now for a 2nd fill, but I'd love to have a good month with some pounds lost. I'm not impatient yet, but I'd love to keep seeing progress.

Good luck to all!!

I had my first fill today, 2.5cc and boy I can feel the difference. Eating was a challenge tonight, but they said it would calm in a few days. If the restriction does not last and I feel I need it I can get another fill next week. I guess they go weekly utill I hit sweet spot. Fingers crossed...

I have a larger band and got 4cc's for my first fill 2 days ago.

I was supposed to be on all liquids for 2 days, But had scrambled eggs and a tiny potato last night. I was full, but still could have used more restriction.

I find that the restriction in the morning is the greatest for me. I wish it were in the evening when I have to cook for others!

I go back in 4 weeks also for the next fill.

The needle was not a bad experience at all.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
