Hello Everyone!:bat:

I have been thinking about the band for close to two years. I finally started doing the research and went to three different seminars for the procedure here in San Diego.< /p>

In the end, I chose Dr. Bhoyrul and he will perform the procedure at Alvarado Hospital. So far I have found him and his staff to be very compassionate and competent. I asked other people, on this site and others, about their experiences with him. Along with my own research and comparing him to others, I decided to put my faith in him.

I had my first consultation on April 30th, the day after my 45th birthday. I suddenly moved into a new position at my company and had to be in NJ for 3 weeks a week later (got back last Friday), and I can say after all the eating out at restaurants I am READY to have some restriction and to not eat so much. :)

I have my psych consult tomorrow, I think I'm pretty sane :) , most of the time anyway, and should get an "A-OK". Then I think I just wait to make another appointment with Dr. Bhoyrul and have my surgery scheduled. Not sure if there are any other tests I need. I think I'm set!

Wish me luck! I don't know when my surgery will be, maybe end of June or sometime in July? I'm starting to get excited though and looking forward to being a part of the weight loss success I see on this website. I also look forward to meeting others here and sharing in our successes and frustrations.

I have more than 100 lbs to lose but I will take it one pound at a time. I, like most here, have spent my entire life dieting, sometimes successful, but always gaining it back and usually more over time.

Best of luck to all here.. I look forward to moving ahead in my journey and getting to know as many of you as I can!

Happy Losing to All,

Katie

I am one week post op. I slipped while preparing dinner for my three children. I took a bite of chicken and panic set in. All liquids you know. Has anyone dared to wonder off the liquids too soon. What resulted? I'm afraid since slip up

Gawd, that must be awfully hard to prepare meals for others when you can not eat yourself.

I haven't been banded yet, so don't know the answer to your question, but you may get a better response asking this in the post-op forum.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
