Banded May 14, 2009 - 4:00 PM

So today is 6 days post op and I'm not sure if I have gas or pain. My belly is very achy. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I'm only getting in about 50 grams of protein per day. Am I hurting my recovery?

Are you following your doc's post op instructions? If so, you probably aren't "hurting your recovery"...if no, then maybe.

Don't worry, just keep doing what your doctor tells you to do. I would go get gasx though. I was banded yesterday morning at 745 am and today i feel a tiny bit better but gas pain started this evening in my neck and shoulder. it just started as noises from my abdomen but now im sure its gas. my doctor said that you usually feel in you neck or shoulder first. as far as your diet just follow what they told you to do and if you really don't feel comfortable call their office and leave a message. I am barely eating anything right now (broth, jello, popsciles) no protein until the weekend when i can switch to yogurt and protein shakes. They keep you on these easy strict diets in the beginning so that your band doesnt slip further down the stomach. Good Luck!!!
